Hello!
You are suffering from osteoarthritis due to cartilage loss; you have to make sure you do not walk on hard surfaces and wear proper footwear and maintain normal body weight to decrease the pressure of your knees.
You can try steroid injections and also synvisc. Using synvisc is called viscosupplementation and you will be given 3 injections with a gap between two injections if you respond well. You can also use ice packs and take NSAIDs to decrease the pain.
For long term cure you have to go for total knee replacement, talk with an orthopedician.
Take care!
Before you consider tkr, go to the site for people who have knee replacement surgery.I wish I had found this site before I had my surgery. It has been almost three months and I am still in so much pain. I also had the synvisc injections, cortisone injections, arthroscopy twice and my dr said the only cure was the knee replacement, bone on bone etc. When I think about the pain I was in then and the pain I am in now I think the old pain wasnt so bad.
