knee pain

I have knee pain in my right knee when I kneel down on it.About a year ago the same knee for some reason unknown to me got very swollen & had to use crutches for about a week. Anyway when I kneel down it is like kneeling on a tack. Then it has a sensation of a rug burn to the touch. After about five times of this happening I looked more closely. On the right lower outer edge of knee cap it gets a swell pocket. It does not swell up the entire knee just this oval like shaped pocket. I do not feel no pain when I move it,walk run nothing. Only when I kneel on it. I have seen this question many times on here but no one has said they have any type of swelling. Please if anyone can tell me I would appreciate it. Thanks

I am experiencing the exact same thing! I was also looking through threads amazed that no one mentioned swelling, until I came upon yours! Please tell me you found out what it was!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without an evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the knee pain. Possibilities that may need to be considered include patellar dislocation, chondromalacia patellae, infections/ inflammations, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, cyst formation, iliotibial band syndrome, osgood schlatter disease, bone growths/ tumours, nerve impingement/ compression, fractures, injuries to the internal knee ligaments/ menisci etc; just to name a few. I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for an evaluation. After a cause is diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly. Meanwhile I would suggest resting the knee and avoiding weight bearing. Tylenol/ OTC NSAIDS may be helpful for pain relief.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
