Triple Arthrodesis Question

My mother had a triple arthrodesis done about thirty years ago and the other day she tripped and hurt her foot. It wasn't damaged, but we were wondering if it is possible to repair her foot if it were to break now because 30 years ago, her doctor told her it was not possible to fix it. Is this still true?

hi travis,
if the fusion gets broken, it's very difficult to get it done again. Because the bones have become very weak in those places and so has the blood vascularity. But there are ways to get it done, provided the hands are wonderful. I mean , provided your doctor is real good.

Thanks, but what I meant was, if the fusion broke, is it possible to refuse it? Or will she be stuck in a wheel chair?

hi travis,
once the arthrodesis is done, and the joint is fused, it's virtually impossible to do bring it back to the original state.
So what the doctor told was right,
