rotator cuff

hello,

In 8 deember after a climbing move I injured my right shoulder. It was getting better for a couple of weeks a nd then suddenly it worse, got weaker and restricted in movement. Until then I was able to drive and play the guitar. two weeks ago (1 of jan) i han an MR. It showed no tear, no tendonitis. The 'MRs conclusion is intrajoint collection of liquid that does not present extension in the sac. The doctor has given me exersices with dumbell and a sling (internal-external rotation). After the exerisices i feel ath area burning a little. I am not sure if i should continue them. I am getting better but very-very slowly. I have had some acupuncture which helped me improve. I would like to know :
1.  is liquid synonym to inflammation
2. does the exercise itself reduces inflammation-liquid
3. why i deteriorated since there was no tear.

Hi Alexandra,
Cyst can be found on imaging studies which are common findings ad they found sometimes to be communicating with joint spaces but in no way there are related to rotator cuff injure. Physical therapy if under proper rotator cuff program will gradually increase strength and Range Of Motion around the joint.
No active movements with >60° of flexion or abduction should be tried while painful.
These exercises will strengthen cuff muscles, deltoid, biceps, scapular stabilizers and improve scapulo-thoracic motion.
Keep me informed if you have any queries.
Bye.

My name is alexandra and i am 38  years. I went to 3  doctors, none of them gave anti-inflammatory medications. in the MR there are some pseudo-cysts. My doctor told me that they exist since childbirth and are of no importance. In what way exercise can help improvement. Is it safe to do exercise even  if it hurts?

Hi,
What is your name? How old are you?
I would say that liquid in joint can be an inflammatory response like in arthritis or it can also be a cyst- which is a bag filled with liquid.
Cysts are usually found on imaging study.
The inflammation would be reduced with help of anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, acetaminophen etc.
Exercise under the cover of analgesics will help in further healing.
If there is sudden jerk or sudden movement it can cause immediate injury.
Keep me informed if you have any queries.
Bye.
