shin and instep pain after tkr

I am 4 weeks post rt knee replacement  and have done all mt pt and stretchig every day.  I know a tornequete was used durring  my replacement as well as a spinal  for the anesthesia.  I still feel like a motorcycle drove ove my quad on the rt leg and I am also experiencing pain  in my shins and instep all on the ritght outside of the leg. I have not felt pain like this since I ran cross country umpteen year ago.  What the heck is going on .....  I am only experiencing minimal pain in my kee but  the rest of my leg is in much worse shape then is was before the surgery.  The physical therapist says my range of motion is great. Strength is good.  No explanation on why the other parts of my leg as I  is experiencing so much pain.  It does not seem to be getting any better  and its to the point where I cant get much sleep at all. I can tolerate this  pain durring the day but this pain and inabilty to sleep is wearing me out.  Has this happend to anybody out there. I dont have a follow up with my doctor until 2 weeks.  Any explanation  of why I am having these other pains or advice is appreciated.   Thanks

Had my 6  week TKR  follow up and reported my pain to my doctor. He attributes the pain to the manipulation they did to straighten my leg during my TKR. My operated leg  had been bowed  for several years and they straightened  it during the procedure . When I told him  that I felt like I had a sprained ankle toward the top of the foot and shin pain , He said it is  probably  is sprained slight because of the  manipulation they did to straighten  my leg. Have you ever heard this before ? Is it common? I just hope the pain eases up because quite frankly the pain is worse then before the TKR. Is it possible that he accidently nicked   a nerve running from the knee to the top of the foot?  If so does that heal on its own.?   Still experiencing quad pain laterally and across the mid quad..  Possibly lingering tourniquet   pain?  I am doing all  kinds of stretches including  IT band stretches,  calf stretches  etc.  and all my other PT everyday a couple of times each day . Thanks for your help and opinion Dr.  Mathur.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Post total or partial knee replacement, any pain in legs should be investigated for clots and deep vein thrombosis. You will need a color dopplar study for this.
The pain can also be due to a pinched nerve in lower back. This can be diagnosed by clinical examination, nerve conduction study and MRI. Please consult your doctor immediately. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
