Had my 6 week TKR follow up and reported my pain to my doctor. He attributes the pain to the manipulation they did to straighten my leg during my TKR. My operated leg had been bowed for several years and they straightened it during the procedure . When I told him that I felt like I had a sprained ankle toward the top of the foot and shin pain , He said it is probably is sprained slight because of the manipulation they did to straighten my leg. Have you ever heard this before ? Is it common? I just hope the pain eases up because quite frankly the pain is worse then before the TKR. Is it possible that he accidently nicked a nerve running from the knee to the top of the foot? If so does that heal on its own.? Still experiencing quad pain laterally and across the mid quad.. Possibly lingering tourniquet pain? I am doing all kinds of stretches including IT band stretches, calf stretches etc. and all my other PT everyday a couple of times each day . Thanks for your help and opinion Dr. Mathur.
Hi!
Post total or partial knee replacement, any pain in legs should be investigated for clots and deep vein thrombosis. You will need a color dopplar study for this.
The pain can also be due to a pinched nerve in lower back. This can be diagnosed by clinical examination, nerve conduction study and MRI. Please consult your doctor immediately. Take care!
