three broken fingers

I broke three fingers on my right. Ihave three pins in my little finger, three pins in my ring finger, my middle finger is also broken but didn't require pins.  They are all broken in the first bone right above the knuckle.I am very concerned about the mobility of my hand after the pins come out. Next week is my surgery to have them removed. At four weeks after surgery my cast ( casted from just below my elbow to the tips of all my fingers) was removed and my hand is still very swollen and my fingers wouldn't move at all. I couldn't even flatten out my hand. They put me back in a cast until my surgery. I have a feeling this is going to be a long recovery...anybody have any idea at all what I could excpect? I'm scared to say the least.

Hello!

You just need to check if the healing of the broken bones has taken place perfectly in 4-6 weeks and if it has then you have to start physiotherapy.

The swelling and stiffness is due to immobilization in the cast and it will go away slowly with physiotherapy.

While on physiotherapy use ice packs and also take intermittent NSAIDs.

Take care!

hey,
I am in a similar situation - I broke 3 metacarpals in the same hand 5 weeks ago, I got the cast off yesterday and it looks so messed up - still swollen and all just out of shape. How was your recovery? I would be interested to know...

I guess the bones that are broken are the proximal bones of the pinky, ring and middle finger.
