Hey Suzie! Welcome to MedHelp, I am the Orthopedic Community Leader. This Fluoro injection is totally different than the last one. Basically it's just like getting a shot, but it is guided to the exact spot where it is needed. Think of a x-ray, but you can see movement in it. It's just like comparing a picture to a video. I hope this helps you feel a little better about it. If you have further questions about this or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me. Best wishes! JD1963
JD, thanks for the comment and information. I understand that the shoulder injection will be different in that it does not include magnetic resonance imaging. However, the needle into the joint area is still a concern for me. I think the contrast dye in the first test has aggravated my situation. Obviously, there are some risks involved with these procedures. Just saying...
Hey Suzieq,
There are always risks present when a procedure needs to be done and I don't blame your concerns. He/she must want to give you a Corticosteroid injection. In my opinion, I would ask him/her to mix that with 0.5% Marcaine (plain). That alone will give you hours of relief!
My Docs (I am a Orthopedic Surgical First Assistant) pretty much do it all the time and why not, you're already there - consider it an extra bonus!
Have a great day! JD1963
Orthopedic DR states that I have a small tear on the underside of my shoulder joint. Would he be referring to a labral tear (cartilage) as opposed to rotator cuff (tendon)? In hindsight, guess I should have asked. BTW - I had shoulder injection done earlier today. Feeling quite uncomfortable this evening.
