12 cm ovarian cyst

I am 36 weeks pregnant and my OB just found a 12 cm x 12 cm cyst on my left ovary. The only description of the cyst is that it is "multi-chambered". My OB leaves on vacation until Labor Day and she has stated that she will induce labor at that time and not allow me to go full-term (September 14th).  Baby is already 7.4 lbs.  My concern is that I will go into labor while she is gone and get a MD who is not familiar with my history. She has left it up to me if I want to have a C-section (can remove the cyst at the same time) prior to her leaving on vacation.
Should I go forward with a C-section at 36 weeks or hope that I don't deliver while OB is on vacation?

If I were you i would go ahead and have a scheduled c-section and have it removed at the same time.  Seems the easiest and i think it would be better to have it removed ASAP.  And since your baby is already at 7lbs sum oz, that's a normal weight.  Good Luck in whatever u decide!

I had my first child 4 weeks early and she was only 6 lbs. 7 oz. She was just fine. As long as the child is healthy and they can tell by ultrasounds. Having the baby earlier shouldn't hurt him/her. Now, my early child is 4 years old and too smart for her own britches.

I've had two children and both were c-sections. I have never felt a real contraction. From what I've heard I don't want to either.  If you have any questions regarding c-sections just ask.
