thank you for your responses. I went to a different doctor today and I feel a little better. She actually talked to me before my exam in her office and not from under the drape while examining me! that is so much nicer! she told me they were complex cysts, 3mm in size. she said although they are not functional cycts, they are very small and usually the cancer ones are 6mm or larger. she was concerned with the bleeding (i bleed thru a pad AND a tampon in about 25 minutes for the first 2 days) and is sending me for some blood work. she said it could be related to a thiroid and some other things, and also endometriosis. she said that because I have 2 kids and intercouse is not painful, she's not too worried that is it that, but I should go on BC pills to see if my cysts shrink and my bleeding goes down. i'm not a fan of BC pills because when I was on them in the past, they made me so moody and emotional, and i cried a lot for little reason (just like when i was pregnant), but these are Yaz brand and are lose dose. hopefully they won't have such side effects. so now i have more information, and even though it's still a "wait and see" scenario, i feel better having things explained to me.
Thanks for all of the responses, i worried myself sick yesterday, and it's nice to have support!
Hello, I would be concerned with the heavy bleeding and becoming anemic. A coworker of mine had the heavy bleeding like you did, she is 47 years old, and the doctor said it was her hormones. She had to be on iron pills for a few months because it made her anemic. He put her on the pill and she doesn't have a bleeding problem now. But I think this is only a temporary solution for her. They said once she goes off the pill if the bleeding continues, they can do outpatient surgery on her called an ablation where they remove some of the lining of the uterus. From what I read on the Internet about the surgery, it seems to be very helpful. But I definitely am not a doctor, so I would maybe think about getting a 2nd opinion also. Becky
Endometriosis can also cause the heavy bleeding... there's a possibility that it could be that as well.
I agree with the person that said to get a new doc.... Preferably a gyn or a gyn/onc (they just know more about women's repro systems)
Bleeding through pads like that is not normal, and you need a doc that will address your concerns.
Keep us posted!

I also should note that they were not concerned with my heavy bleeding during my exam, they said it's probably just hormones and encouraged me to go on the pill (which I don't tolerate well). After my results came back as ovarian cysts, however, they told me to call right away if i bleed thru more than 1 pad an hour. I told the nurse that has been happening for my past 6 cycles. She said the bleeding and cysts were unrelated, so why the sudden concern?
