Adenomyosis-Where Are you Shelley?

I was wondering what happened to "Shellhall" or Shelley, who was scheduled for surgery or at least a follow-up appointment on Feb. 6???  Hope to hear from you again.  I am pretty new to this site and don't know my way around or under which subject to post a question.  Just know that you were under this subject before.

Any other ladies with comments, suggestions for Adenomyosis?

Well tomorrow is the big day. I was very nervous a few days ago but I calmed down. I am just getting over a cold so that is no fun. Keep me in your prayers. When I am up to it I will let you know how my laporoscopy turned out. I hope this works. Wish me luck :)

I had an OK weekend... Somewhat pain free on Saturday... Like you finally got some work done around the house... That was really nice... But I was sore Sunday but I think that was from cleaning... But felt Ok again yesterday and got some more work done.. Finally got the kids bathroom cleaned... I cannot believe how dirty the kids are... HA-HA... Well I have about 5 1/2 weeks to go before the big day.. I am so ready to not hurt anymore and not take these meds...

How were your weekends?  I actually felt pretty good this weekend and got some cleaning done around the house.  Normally even doing hand dishes will set me off on one helluva hot flash, so I have to take frequent breaks.  Also, started on my taxes this weekend.  I love it when I feel good and can get something accomplished!

It makes me grumpy and concerned that you are both on so many medications; either for pain or upset stomach or just from the side effects of another medication.  Why do doctors prescribe meds like candy instead of getting to the root of the problem?  I'm afraid you will both have other health issues down the road from being on prescription meds for any length of time.  I try not to even take an aspirin unless I'm desperate.  I just take those Ponstels maybe 3 nights during the worst pain of my cycle.  All this stuff can't be doing our livers any good!  And how can we be healthy and get a full recovery if we can't filter out the toxins?

Just my thoughts.  It's not like I have any other suggestions.  Hope you have a wonderful, pain-free week!

Hi - Yesterday was kinda a bad day; all of a sudden I got very crampy and sick to my stomach. I rested for a while and was able to go out to dinner with my husband so that was nice. I have 3 girls, youngest being almost 2 years old - I'm 42 as well. This all started after I had her; slowly the symptoms came to light and several months ago is when the severe pain started so I had to go to the doctor. Just in the past month has my abdomen gotten so noticably large. It's  like my entire body changed after I gave birth and it was my easiest birth - pushed for about 2 minutes and out she came! I did have two complex cysts removed before I became pregnant so that's how I knew the symptoms were related to gyno issues. I already take norco for the pain and don't want to add anything on top of that.  I would really just like to get off all the pain meds! I just feel helpless and like there is no end in sight - like I'm going to live like this forever. It's so depressing! Oh, well, back to work! Be well...

In comment to the stomach issues. I have nausea esp during the pain and even after so I went to my gastro guy and had an endoscopy it revealed alot of bile backing up into my stomach I asked my Dr why? He said the stress of my body going through the pain is making my gallbladder work overtime and the bile has no where to go but into my stomach.Plus all the pain killers is not helping the cituation. That is what is giving me the nausea and upset stomach. so I take nexium daily and carafat 4 times a day and it has helped. I try and watch my diet to, some days are good and others are not so good. I have lost at least 15lbs this year since the pain. when I am in pain I do not want to eat but when I am not in pain I can't eat enough. Hope that helps:)

Hey, nice to have another voice out there.  You posted another thread?  I'll look for it.  I didn't know what the appropriate heading was when I started this one because cancer isn't a word anybody is using in my diagnosis.  Still, glad you found us.

You and Shelley must be in a little better shape than I.  I've always been pretty heavy...above 155 after having two boys.  However, I weigh 20 pounds more this year than this same period last year!  And I haven't changed my eating habits, but I ADDED exercising 5 days a week!!!  What I am trying to say is that I have such a flabby belly these days, how could one tell if I looked pregnant or not???   ;)

I wonder what the connection is with the upset stomach???  I too, have never eaten better.  Can't tell you the last time I ordered from a fast food restaurant or opened a box of instant anything.  I am 42 and wondering if Menopause is right around the corner.  I don't know....it's all very frustrating!  And yes, I have lived with the pain for so long, not sure I remember what pain-free feels like.  Have you tried that pain pill Ponstel that is targeted for menstrual pain?  The stuff actually works....ask for it when you go to your appointment.  I take it on the worst cramping days before going to bed.  It helps take the edge off so I can sleep.

Have a great day.  Talk with you more soon, I hope!

Sorry to hear about that... It really sucks to be a woman... My husband said last time we were at the doctors that he was really glad that he does not have the same plumbing that we do... My husband has been so great with all of this... He is so understanding... More then I thought he would be... I am the one that is normally the healthy one... He and my daughter has had several differnt surgerys and I am the one that helps them out and now they are there for me and it is really nice... Let me know if you need anything or just need to talk...

Hi - Thought I'd join in here although I posted a thread for this topic.  I also cannot lose weight, or so the scale says.  Actually, I look quite fit everywhere but my abdomen. My clothes are all too big except in the waist. My stomach is always upset as well and really have no appetite. If I do eat, I make sure it's healthy - salads, veggie juice, fruit, soup.  And I used to be kinda a junk food junkie (had my spurts, but not all the time).  But the thought of **** food makes me sick, literally. If I would have eaten/or not eaten like this a year ago, I would be about 90 lbs. by now. When I look in the mirror it really looks like I'm pregnant - round uterus like stomach (weird).  Also, I believe my extreme fatigue may be caused by anemia for which I need to be tested. I do think adeno is completely hormonal driven like you do because my hormones are out of whack; I can tell by my mood swings. So what are we gonna do??!! I plan on being more stern with the doctor on the 23rd as, like you said, another month means another month of pain. I'm just so used to the pain don't know how I'd live without it (lol). Keep me posted on your progress if you desire. Be well.....

Thanks, you're a doll!  Hey, how is it that they end these postings?  Is it after a certain amount of days have passed or after a certain amount of entries have been made?  How will I find you again if this one ends?

I'm glad you have a supportive husband!  That really helps!  I'm not in a relationship right now but I have two teen-aged boys that are my biggest fans.  We are very close and they are going to watch over me this summer, when I'm guessing I'll have the hysterectomy.  I've never been all that healthy, especially as a baby.  I pretty well lived in the hospital for my first five years of life.  I wonder now if all the antibiotics they pumped me with is what is causing all my problems now.  Luckily, my children didn't inherit those genes.  They are very healthy and even though both play every sport known to man, neither has ever had a serious enough injury to land them at the ER.  I feel very, very blessed!

Hey, have a happy Valentine's Day!

My stomach is upset all the time, too.  That's interesting.  Another reason why this weight gain is driving me crazy.  My stomach is upset, I'm not hungry, and I always feel bloated, so I'm not eating much yet I gain that pound every week!!!  Oh well, enough bitchin'

Actully I have lost weight... Only about five pounds (But I only weigh about 130) but my pants are getting tighter but only in the middle.. I think that I have lost weight because of stress and my stomach being upset all of the time...

I know a few of you have said that you look pregnant due to the uterus being enlarged.  Have you gained weight as well?  I can't seem to keep from gaining weight even though I joined a gym in August and go faithfully 5 days a week.  I also really watch what I eat, yet every week I gain about another pound.  It's not like it's muscle weight either, because my pants are getting tighter all the time.  My guess is that this adenomyosis is hormonally driven and it's wrecking havoc on my metabolism.  Any ideas?

Sorry for the delay I do not always check this on the weekends... LAVH is a Laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy... The good part about this is that I do not have to have any cuts on my stomach... I really want to have this surgery soon but I think with my husbands business trip I am going to wait until he gets home... Yes I have hot flashes and can cry at anything right now... I hope it gets better after surgery... Let me know how your appt goes when you go...

metrogal39
Adenomyosis is endometrosis within the lining of the Uterus... Every month my Uterus gets bigger and more tender... I am at the point that I take Norco everyday just to keep the pain down... My doctor said that my Uterus is about two and half times the size it should be... I look preg right now...

shellant
What is your name..? and how long have you been dealing with this..?

Hi, guys!  Hope you all had a good weekend.  Hot flashes and night sweats kept me from sleeping much, but I'm getting used to making it through life without much sleep.  Sounds like all you ladies have it somewhat worse than I do, but doesn't it make you wonder where this stuff comes from???  I don't remember my mother ever talking about such matters, that her sisters or aunts or herself had this.  Of course, my mother had a hysterectomy at 33 because a drunken Army doctor cut a main artery during a routine D & C, and she nearly bled to death!  So, compared to that, maybe we do have it a little better?  I don't know, but I wish there were more women's health studies and more options.  Seems SO invasive to just cut out body parts!  Yes, keep me posted on your health and after the doctors' appointments.  Thanks and I wish you all well!

Good to hear from you!  What is LAVH?

I'm seeing a new GYN on March 7.  A woman this time, that was highly receommended
to me by my Naturopathic doctor.  At this point, I am leaning towards the hyst.
because my periods have become unbearable.  Missing days of work every 2 to 3
weeks just isn't an option!  Hope you hang in there, and keep me posted.  I know
that you are a few years younger than I, so must be even more frustrated than I
am.  Do you feel like you have menopausal symptoms as well?

Anyway, best of luck to you....have a nice weekend!
