GOG 199

I have signed up for the GOG 199 study, has anyone ever looked into it?  It is a good study, two options, non-agressive - CA125's, US, or aggresive - surgical- complete hystorectomy or oopherectomy.  I have chosen, complete hystorectomy.  Mother died of Ovarian Cancer at 49, Grandmother, 72 (first diagnosed at age 65 - only removed one ovary - came back in the other), My great aunt died at 69.  Strong familial history!  Surgery on the 28th.  I have had US done, have a small cyst on my right ovary, they think it is benign, but will find out.  CA 125 level is 11.  Gettting closer to surgery, not so worried yet, just excited that I will not have to continuously worry about this anymore.  Thanks for listening.

I have never heard of that study.  But I do know two women (they are sisters) with a family history of the disease who had precautionary surgeries as soon as they finished their families.  Both are cancer-free, and have  lived past the ages at which their mother and grandmother died of the disease.

You have my prayers for a long and happy life!
