Progesterone only mini-pill. Is this causing cysts? Can't take Oestrogen

Sorry if this has been covered in other posts - i'm getting info overload and can't remember what i've read any more.

I realised a few years ago that it was my contraceptive pill that was responsible for some bad side effects including severe migraines, and indulging on the usual triggers like coffee or chocolate made life really hell. I'd tried several different pills over the years as i suffered with irregular and heavy periods. Started out on the mini-pill about 2/3 years ago and had some other problems, but the worst side effects just dissappeared - I don't have to avoid any foods now.

The doctor upped my dose of progesterone-only to two pills every day (365 day course) about two years ago to jump-start a normal period and cycle (normal used to be 8 days), and not long after that the first stomach cramps came (i'd suffered period pains before but these were manageable). My periods stopped for a while like the cramps, until my pernicious anaemia was discovered and treated, but when they came back they were two monthly and last just over three weeks. By last September the cramps were unbearable, and I got my 1st US Scan.

Could it be my mini pill that has brought the cysts on?

Wow!  The only thing I know is that when I went off of the bc pill a little over two years ago, my body went wacko!  Looking back at that time until the discovery of my cysts (dermoids), I had alot of hormone issues.  It is hard to say what could cause it, but it doesn't hurt to ask.   I am sure that someone on the site knows way more about this than I do, so don't worry you'll get some answers.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Godspeed

I'm not an expert on this by any means but I know that the pill (w/ both estrogen and progesterone) is sometimes perscribed to ward off cysts. The fact that you used to be on a pill with estrogen and then dropped off it may be an influencing factor since cysts could form due to a sharp estrogen drop.
