Start looking for another DOCTOR?

I've been trying to schedule this surgery and the lady that schedules them is telling me it might take us a month because they are booked up in the OR but she is trying to figure a way to squeeze me in.. My Doctor said we'd have it as an ASAP because of the pain and we might be able to have it done before THANKSGIVING.. I left a message to have the DOCTOR HERSELF CALL ME BACK. Should I start looking for another dr? SHould this kind of surgery be put off that long?

My dr is going to schedule it on a day that she is on call.. so hopefully i won't have to wait too long. I do agree that if i switch drs i won't get in any faster.. soi'll have her do it.. its on dec 7th.

I had to wait a couple of weeks, because of scheduling problems and then the time was at 4 pm in the afternoon.  Unfortunately if it is a busy and good hospital, then the OR is booked, however where I was operated on, they run an evening shift.  I worked in the hospital and still had to wait, had nothing to do with my physician.  The wait is terrible, sorry this is happening to you.

It's worth the wait even if you have to, for a Gyn Onc. It may not be a longer wait though. My gyn onc scheduled it 2 weeks after my 1st appointment and his scheduler told me she would look for an opening sooner if I wanted. I said I can wait, I need time to get my house and work straighted around.
I guess every doc is different.

Good luck.

I had trouble getting mine scheduled too.  It was a month before I actually got my surgery....gyno did his tests then referred me to gyn/onc...they tried to find a date to do the surgery together and then finally the gyn/onc took over and said he wanted to do the surgery himself.  It was a long, excruciating wait!  My cancer was staged 1a so they thought my mass was probably just a cyst because they didn't see enlarged nodes, etc. in my scans.  I think that when they don't see other signs of cancer in your scans other than the mass...they aren't in as much of a rush.  It may just be that they are too backlogged though.  The most important thing is that you get a gyn/onc to do your surgery.  I'll bet if you switch now your surgery will end up further off than if you wait with this dr.  Just my opinion.  Good luck.
