looking for help for my wife

Is there anyone in the orlando area know of any doctors capable of getting avastin outside of a trial? my wife has stage 4 ovarian cancer, she nearly died mid- May her tumor tripled in size in 3 weeks and her intestinal track shut down. They placed a DNR bracelet on her, I asked her doctor for one lastshot, he said abrixine with avastin. It worked like a miracle. CT scan on Monday but he can feel the tumors getting smaller in her abdomen. She wants to move close to Disney, we have found a place but if we can not find the avastin there, moving will basically kill her.  Anyone can help?

Genentech is the mfg for Avastin

The company provides financial help since Avastin is not approved
for ovarian cancer.

Have you tried to go to the manufacturer.  I don't know who makes Avastin,but I do know they have a patient assistance program. Look into it,I'm not sure of the steps you'll have to do or what you night need from your Dr.,but it's worth a shot.  Good luck,I'll keep your wife in prayer~~~~Joanne

Can you contact someone at the MDAndeson hospital in Orlando or even Florida Hospital - they were running a trial program I believe at Florida Hospital. If I can find that information, I will post it.

My Dr. contacted my Insurance company first to see if they would cover me on Avastin.  Maybe you should look into who would the Dr be first, and meet with them on this, before you go ahead with your plans.  

So far, I had my third Avastin with Cytoxan, and my CA numbers keep going up.  But I am feeling good.?

I can't help with the doctor question I just wanted to say I am happy the avastin combo works for her.  It is encouraging to me to hear something works even after the docs had given up.  Marie
