Accredited Diagnostic Imaging

Most on this forum have had or will have many diagnostic imaging procedures (CT, US, MRI, mammogram):

An facility that is ACR approved must meet certain criteria. You can read about it on the site.

I have not been able to find any equivalent accreditation program for anything other than mammography. Mammography is the only fregulated imaging procedure, due to the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). This was enacted because mammography is the most difficult diagnostic imaging to interpret and therefore all parts of the imaging chain need to be done properly in order to produce quality diagnostic images. Also, becuase it is a screening procedure and large numbers of people are affected by the outcomes.

I wonder though, if we wouldn't all benefit if ultrasound were regulated in a similar fashion.

Thanks for the information, looking forward to reading what you find out for Thailand and India...Planning to go to India for a little vacation and want to have a PET scan done at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai...Hope their machines are ACR approved.

I am looking into equivalent organizations for Europe etc. and will post when I find them.
