I'm interested in how your lap turns out, mine is on Thurs. Pre-op cocktail drinks start on Wed!!!! Best wishes and a speedy recovery!!!
Yeoooo...jeesh; I definately remember what that stuff is like....I don't ever want to do that again!
Well...if you only have one more dose to go...you're doing great!!
I don't think there is any way to make that stuff better....it's just bad, no matter how you look at it!
I forget...after you finish that stuff, can you drink clear liquids until mid-night? Alchohol is a clear liquid...right?
Anyway, I will be thinking about you; let us know how your'e doing when you are able.
Peace to you.

Hope this is getting to you on time.
I went through several cleansing during my bout with diverticulitis and the three colonscopies and ultimate surgery to remove the diseased part of my colon.
If it is GoLytely (a total lie, I might add) you are using, where you mix it up in a big gallon size bottle and drink it a glass at time until it is gone over a period of time, I found it best to get it very cold and add some Crystal Lite lemonade to it. Kinda made it taste more like Gatorade that way, which I don't really like, but is better than drinking the stuff straight. And chug it down as fast as you can. If you can. I also got really cold during the cleansing time because you loose so much fluid and electrolytes. I took my electric blankey in the bathroom with me and stayed wrapped up as best I could.
Good luck and God bless, Barb
Is the per-op cocktail used for all laps? I have surgery 2/27 and my doctor just told me to stop eating and drinking by midnight for 9 surgery. I am in France though so maybe it is just in the US?
It sounds awful, I am hope you can manage to drink get it all down. Besy of luck tomorrow!!
I think it's my doc's pre-caution incase she has to do a total hys., Laprascopy is scheduled and freeze a section of the cyst..etc. THANKS for the great hints for drinking, I'm going to add some crystal lite right now, plus my neighbor just brought over some popsicles, says after each gulp to suck on the popsicle quickly to get that salty lemon/lime taste out of my mouth, nite nite...xxx's and ooo's
Yuck,I remember when i had to do my clean out..I started at four in the evening and finished about eight in the evening ...Started pooing half way through and pooed till everything went clear and it looked like yellow water...(sorry),and i was still passing it when i went in for surgery...I told the surgeon that if they smelled something during surgery it was me..I was praying that would not happen during surgery.lol....But i found that mine tasted like salt water from the ocean..I cant remember the name..
Lou, how are you feeling? I've been thinking about you all day! Please take care and let me know. Luv ya girl!

what is a pre-op cocktail?
pre op cocktail is the laxative type liquid you mix with water to cleanse your bowels before a medical proceedure.
I feel for you - sounds horrible. My son has had to have it a couple of times and it really was so much easier the 2nd time when we restricted food leading in. I'm not sure if you are already doing this or if you did it before you started the cocktail? It may be too late for this sort of advice. I'm sorry I don't know anything else that is helpful. Hang in there - tomorrow by this time it will all be behind you. That's what I'm going to try to focus on when I have to go through it. Good luck tonight and especially tomorrow.
A little late for me to give any suggestions. But if you get this before the surgery... I found the pre-op prepping in some ways worse than the post-op recovery room! I found some instructions still around earlier today when picking, up and still strunched up my face just thinking about it. (I did an endema too which I'd never done before, and made sure my mom was on the phone when I snuck off to do it. Hope you didn't have to do that too.) I was more spacey from the prepping than the anesethesia. So, your past the pre-op! May it be an easy, easy trip from here!
