Thank you very much for writting back. I do have a gyn oncologist who is doing the surgery and I have a general sergeon also because i have a hernia and to take care of adhesions from 4 previouse abdominal surgery's. I just dont know what to expect and its scary not to know whats going to happen until you wake up after surgery. I am glad everything worked out for you and that you are doing well.
I don't have any answers for you. But i can tell you that my ultrasound report said that it couldn't rule out malignancy and that a "watch and wait" approach was not recommended and that surgery was necessary and urgent. i had a softball size mass on my right ovary that grew to cantaloupe size within the week between diagnosis and surgery.
All turned out well for me. I had a benign endometreoma. unfortunately for us - they really can't tell what kind of cyst we have until they take it out and biopsy it. Your doctor is doing the right thing by scheduling a surgery and getting it taken care of. Don't worry. 99% of cysts are benign.
The one piece of advice i have - and that i believe all women on this forum would agree with - is to make sure that you have a gyn/oncologist as your doctor or on board with your doctor. if something turned out to be less than desirable - i'm sure you would want that oncologist involved in the surgery and staging procedures.
Keep us all posted! I'm sure that someone more knowledgable than i will come along shortly and help you out.
Best of luck!
laura
I forgot to add that the MRI says that the mass does not have the appearance of a blood filled cyst of a functional cyst and is worrysome for malignancy due to the enhancing mural node. thank you.
