Complex Ovarian Cyst

I am writing because I have a lot of unanswered question.  I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1999 when I was 18 years old.  Since then I have had many problems with simple ovarian cyst.  In October 2006, my doctor performed an ultrasound and found a 2cm complex cyst.  At that point they told me that it was nothing to worry about and go on about my normal activities.  In Feb. 2007, another ultrasound was performed and the same complex cyst was present.  This time it was apox. 2.6cm.  My doctor at the time seemed concerned due to having PCOS and my family history with cancer.  My mother had cancer in her uterus the entire time she was pregnant with me and other family members have had women cancers.  Well the doctor did blood work and referred me to a OB/GYN.  At my appointment for the OB/GYN the doctor told me that the blood work was in the normal range so the cyst was not cancer but it could turn into cancer.  Well for about the last month I have been having pains in my lower left side, along with lower back pain, no energy, nausea, bloating and abnormal periods.  I finally was able to get an appointment with the doctor.  During the exam the doctor informed me that the cyst is now atleast 4cm and that there is free fluid in the cervix.  The doctor told me that there is a great chance that it could be ovarian cancer.  He referred me to the OB/GYN again to be seen.  When they called me to set up my appointment for the OB/GYN they told me that there was no rush and set my appointment up for a month from now...  Meanwhile, I am sitting and waiting..  My questions are...  with the symptoms that I am having and the complex cyst, what is the chance of this being cancer?  And why are they waiting so long to see me or even do anything?  I have researched this a little bit and most articles say that they can not determin cancer unless surgery is performed.  If this is true then how could they tell me in Feb 2007 that it was not cancer by a simple blood test?  Right now I am kinda stuck and cant get a second opinion because my husband is active duty army and I have to be seen my military doctors.  But these doctors do not seem to care about my health and are putting healthy pregnant woman before me because of a major baby boom on the military post that we live on.  So since the doctors are not concerned, should I be?????

I would also like to add that due to the PCOS I had normal periods every month until June 2001.  Which at that point I had a period for about 2 weeks.  After that I did not have another period until October 2006.  Would that put me at a higher rick with having problems?

Erica, you need to call the office back and tell them you have been told you may have ovarian cancer.  That you really need to be seen by a Gyn/Onc and you need it right away.  Your Dr, that told you it might be could have referred you directly to one.  If you do not get any response call you Congressman, from your home state, and from where you are based and tell them what is happening.  If you don't get any response let them know you are calling the local newspaper to tell them how they are treating the servicemen's wifes.  Don't accept an appointment in a month, and try to get right to the Gyn/Onc.  This is scary enough without getting quick access to the correct health care.  Good luck
