Cranberry

I keep hearing things about Cranberry and on chemo,  it  may help.   The juices in the store hardley have any a good percentage of cranberry juice in them.    So I cooked up a batch of fresh ones and made a jam.  Also,  putting in the dried cranberries in my cereal.

Does anyone have other ideas,  and it there any more info on this.... Can it really help?

Leslee takes 1 cranberry capsule per day,  she takes a thermos of Ocean Spray Juice with her to drink while getting the chemo, besides drinking an 8 Oz glass a day. She was born with 4 functioning kidneys and we have always used to cranberry juice to flush out the toxins and prevent the Kidney and Bladder infections. Cranberrys have a very high anti oxident ingredient and we believe it is the American answer to the European Gogi berry. We make a trail mix using dried cranberrys along with many of the other suggested cancer fighters such as cashews, flax seeds, soy nuts, dark chcolate, dried mango fruit, raisens, dried apple and banana slices. She takes this to work with her.  Don't know if it works or not, time will tell, but her energy level remains high and  with the exception of the hand and foot syndrome from the Doxil, she feels good. She also drinks the Ginger, Sage and Green teas. Broccoli, Squash and we are going to bake the Pumpkin seeds this year after Halloween and add those to the trail mix. she has changed her diet completely , we were a meat, potato. gravey family with lots of rich desserts. Now fresh salads and less red meat, lots of fresh fruit and veggies. She is gradually losing her "chemo fat' and the menopause symptoms have disappeared.

Hi,  thanks for your response,  I sort of felt this way about it.    Last year it was tested with ginger powder and viturally it said it killed the ovarian cancer cell in the dish.    I guess anything in direct contact would react differently.

remember that with all natural foods tested in the labs, this is typically in vitro research meaning it is not done in the body but in a lab environment.  In this way *many* things are toxic to ovarian cancer cells.  In vivo, the opposite is usualy true because the substances do not go in direct contact with the ovarian cancer cells OR they require a large amount of the substance.  For example this sometimes requires what is called 'mega' doses of a supplement.  But there is no human trials typically because they are not funded by a pharmacutical company or the government.

So using these natural supplements such as cranberries is always good health anyways.  But I think the answer you are looking for is you should be eyeing cranberry 'supplements'.  For example here is one from GNC (they have different types):

This provides you a concentrated dosage compared to spending all day munching on cranberries (which is not a bad thing to do in general anyways!)
