Becky, Karen and Mare

Ladies, ladies, ladies!   You guys are understandably wired and anxiety ridden....but, you need to slow down, take a deep breath...remember the mantra "99% are benign"....and if the worst happens (as it did to me) you will deal with it...nothing you do today is going to change whatever is going on in there...your real objective is to find out what is going on and deal with it....the sooner the better.
This is a scaary time..yes...but it is NOT the time to panic. You have to be calm, strong and educated.  Have confidence that no matter what your diagnosis is you will deal with it...like it or not, you have no choice! You can do this....hopefully all you will have to do is recover from the surgery...but if you must....you will make an aggressive plan of action and fight like hell....you can and will do this if necessary.
I came with the name "Battalion Cysters" because we are fighters ..because we are battalion strong...we have the numbers, we have the will to fight and win....we are in the trenches with eachother...none of us is alone..
Take a deep breath...clear your head and re-claim your life. I look forward to hearing from each of you.
Peace
dian

Here, Here, Dian!  You always have such wisdom when you post.  I really wish I had found you when I was first diagnosed.

To you ladies facing the unknown, that is the scariest part, which you all well know by now.  I have faith that you all have so much going on in your lives, no matter how it turns out, you are going to come out on the recovery side kicking and screaming (figuratively speaking, of course!) ready to take on whatever it is you face.  The unknown also has this sneaky way of making you think the worst, but how many times does it turn out that way?  Not many!

In no way am I even suggesting any of you will get a bad dx, however if you do, that is what chemo is for.  It isn't pleasant...most of the time, you feel like ****...but when you do, you know it is doing what it is supposed to do.  I look at is as a small price to pay for having years left with my family and friends.  My deepest hope, however, is that you all come out of surgery with a clean bill of health feeling better than ever.  Like Dian said, we're all here to back you up and offer a friendly shoulder when you need one.  Prayers for you all as you face your fears and have your surgeries.

By the way Mare, I am a Kentucky girl too!

Gail :)

I figured you had to be somewhere close to Lexington since you talk about your horse. :)  I am in Murray...way on the Western side near Paducah.

I know very well the area where you live :) My mare is leased out to Murray State's Equestrian team, and I'm good friends with the coach of the riding team there. Plus I have friends from the Murray and Paducah area (oh, love the food... Patti's 1880's settlement and the best cheese dip in the world at that little mexican place by the Kroger). Love that end of the state (except for the more severe thunderstorms y'all get... I hate t'storms)

Small world, "aint it"??  I got both my BA and MS from Murray State, and I work at the dam, about three miles from Patti's. I never eat there, though.  It's so close, I never think of it (duh!)  You must be talking about El Tequila's cheese dip.  Yes, it is really good, especially with a margarita!  And, as for storms...well, today isn't the day to visit Western KY, then.  We are in for it tonight.  I am used to it, though.  I spent a good year of my childhood in a storm cellar near Altus, OK.  Seemed like one hit nearly every day.  Now I love it.  DH and I are storm spotters for NWS.

Thank you for your words of wisdom!!! You are a courageous woman and your capacity for kindness and understanding is awesome.  I am also on the roller coaster of emotions of pre surgery jitters...but ultimately I just want to KNOW, so I can continue on with what I have to.  No matter what the results, I want to be emotionally and spiritually prepared and this website has been so helpful!

Thank you and I will be sending good thoughts your way always. Gloria

Thanks Dian...
I'm a little less nervous about my sx now that I know my mother is going to be able to come and be with me for a few days. (I admit it... I'm nearly 30 and I wanted my mom there with me).
It reassures me to know that there will be someone there that can get information and make an informed decision while I'm under if they have to do anything other than remove the blasted alien hairball (still assuming it's an alien hairball...not liking the other alternatives, so a hairball it is until after sx).
My problem right now is dealing with symptoms. I'm still fairly nauseaous, alternate between constipation and diarrhea (sorry), and am slightly dizzy, along with the side ouch from the ovary and muscle aches. Dealing with that and not really getting any relief unless I'm sleeping is what's getting to me. I really do hate this! I'm a control person... I want to be in control of every part of my life, and this is completely out of my hands.
My job and my social life are suffering, and I really can't wait till this is over.
On the plus side (at least for me) is that my cats obviously know that I'm not feeling well, and both are overly cuddly all the time. It's very rare that I don't have a cat curled up somewhere either on me or within reach. :) My horse is even being well behaved and lovable instead of his usual 'Dennis-the-Menace-in-a-horse-suit' act. (see...just made you laugh:)
I love this site, and appreciate everything that ALL of you have done. I am firmly joining the Battalion since this site has made me feel so much better about all this.
