Do I have ovarian cancer?

I am a 37 yr. old female.  I had a partial hysterectomy 7 years ago due to cervical cancer and they left my tubes and ovaries.  I have recently had abdominal swelling that isn't going down at all.  I have discomfort all over my abdomen and pelvic area along with lower back pain.  I have had more gas than is normal for me and breast pain.  I am tired most of the time.  I have has some nausea from time to time and frequent urination.  This has gone on for 3-4 weeks now.  I go from having diarehha one day to being normal for 3-4 days.  I had decided to diet before my abdomen started getting big, just eating salads and light meals, so I know it's not me getting fat.  What are the possibilities of this being ovarian cancer?  What other conditions may cause the same possibilities?  Any feedback would be appreciated.  I did go to the dr. on Friday and she ordered an abdominal and pelvic sonogram, and a mammogram.  The tech couldn't find my ovaries, so they had to do the vaginal probe sonogram and after a few minutes, finally found them.  I won't have the results until tomorrow.

Hi,
I had Hysto. in July.
Getting better, but I have this bad back pain around my tail bone almost every day. I'm taking pain killers 4-6 a days. My mood is bad, I can not tolerate my own family. I was asked my doctor, but he told me that is "normal" and can not be ovarian Cancer. I'm 47 years old.
I can not concentrate, work, and seat long time.
Do you have any suggestion?

Hi
Can you give other symptoms of  before you were diagnosed. I have a cyst on my left ovary which is causing lots of pain. like you i can not sit up straight it hurts and aches more. The only real way to get some relief is to lie on right side with legs slightly bent and keep still, even then if some gas decides to go down my asending colon i know about it! I have more symptoms than i have room for. so i would be interested to know what kind of cyst was found and how ect ect. Cheers Dawn

I know!  I've actually been waiting a year for this surgery! That is whent he "large complex cyst" was found! It's been 3 months since I was told surgery would be necessary. I have to travel 9 hours to the oncologist.  Yes, I'm in a great deal of pain and every day I'm terrified the cyst/tumour will rupture.

Pain for 3 years in lower right hip area and lower back always on right side, extreme nausea, trouble sitting and rising, always TIRED and fill 20lbs heavier (but not), don't eat much, have to go bathroom all the time but takes forever to go - very slow, no real sleep anymore, pain runs down right leg w/swelling.  Had u/s and CT of abdomin, ovaries, etc., including vascular u/s on right leg.  DR said cysts on right ovary but no worry.  Been to urologist, md, gyn/ob, numerouos test.  Today, biopsy of uterous. DR not concerned wants me to go to pelvic pain center. Results next week on biopsy.  Anyone with suggestions, so tired of being tired and full of pain on right side.

I received a phone call from the dr's office this evening.  She wants an abdominal ct along with the sonogram of my breast tomorrow.  They are going to do the ca125 test as well.  I hope it is nothing.  It has taken me most of the day to get my mind in a better place about it, but I finally did!

I had a 13cm cyst on my ovary and was in for surgery in less than two weeks. Mine did turn out to be ovarian cancer, I am in the 1% club.  I am not saying yours is, but I cannot believe, unless for personal reasons that you have to wait 5 weeks for surgery. That is unbelievable. I grew with discomfort that I could hardly sit upright very quickly. Are you sure you cannot move that up?

I hope you can. Just thought I'd give you a bit of input. I will be thinking of you.
Sincerely
Danielle

Request a CA 125 blood test.  The insurance may not pay for it.
The test is not a 100% indicator of ovarian cancer and may point to other (but still serious conditions).  The normal range is 0-35, and before having what was just supposed to bowel surgery mine was 516.  I had stage 3C ovarian cancer.

Recovering now from oophrectomy, plus complete debulking etc. of abdomen and just started chemo last week.

Good luck to you.

i don't know what your dr's office told you, but sometimes mammos have to be repeated if your breast tissue is very dense.  hopefully that's all it is.

They called with my results this morning.  The sonograms were normal except that the nurse was thinking that I only had my right ovary.  I told her I had both and that the tech had found both. I asked her to get the dr. to run a CA-125 blood test.  Something is causing these symptoms and this needs to at least be ruled out.

As for the mammogram, that wasn't normal.  They found something and want me at the hospital in the morning for a high resolution sonogram. I don't mind admitting that I am scared to death.  I am a 36DD (probably bigger), so this would be very noticable if they had to do anything.  I am going to the dr.'s office after they get back from lunch to get the results to read for myself.  Thank you everyone for all the tidbits of information you have given me.

Thanks for the feedback ladies!  I went to have my mammogram this afternoon and they had to take another picture of my right breast.  Then I had to wait some more and when the tech finally came back, she told me that the dr. would type up a report and fax it to my dr. this afternoon.  Then she said that I would be getting a letter in the mail in 1-2 weeks and if I didn't get it, call my dr.  Strange, huh?

I have had many cyst on my ovaries before too.  The first one was surgically removed when I was 19.  This is way different than that.  I hope that is all it is.  When I find out the results, I will let ya'll know.

boditty.....I am going through exactly the same thing right now, to a tee. I can totally relate to your discomfort. I had a hysterectomy in October 2005 and by November the pain was getting worse. I had an ultrasound which revealed a "large complex cyst." I went to 4 doctors between November and July and was told many differen thtings and given pills for things that had nothing to do with me. I finally had another ultrasound and the cyst was 12 cm. One month after that it was 14-15 cm.  That was a month ago and my surgery isn't for another 5 weeks, with a gynecological oncologist.

Be persistant with getting properly diagnosed and treated. Good luck!

I had a hysterecomy for cervical cancer at the age of 25(im now 47) and a cyst 10cm in size has just been found on my left ovary.at the ultrasound they also told me they could not find left ovary so i too had to have vaginal scan and then wait 7 days for results(it was hell),i have a family history of breast and ovarian cancer.I had trouble with my bowels so i was first sent to a gastric surgeon. The symptoms you describe are almost the same as mine, gas, bowels pain down leg)particulaly the groin)bloating, nausea, los of appitite.painful intercourse ect ect.Apparently they are very common after hysterectomy. Check out akg answers for "PAIN ON LEFT SIDE OVARY?".. HOPE THIS HELPS.
