First time here needing some help badly

Hello everyone I am new here and I wanted to ask as few questions...First off a little history I am 31 about to be 32 in January...When I was 27 I was told I have an ovarian cyst found through a Trans Vag Ultra Sound...Dr didnt seem worried...Ever since I was 27 I have had several symptoms includiing pain on my right side only seems to get worse with ovulation and sometimes subsides when I start my period,The pain comes and go for about a week(about ten min the pain is extremly bad then goes away for about two or three hours )this has happened every single month since I was 27,some bloating not much, gas, heavy periods all my life with extremly bad menstral pain, family history of fibroids not cancer tumors,no children,I am worried about oc ...The more I worry the worse the symptoms become..what would cause only right side pain and last a week before the period and subside after the period was over? Does this sound like oc? When the pain is gone I other wise feel like a 16 yr old..the pain is so bad I double over and am awaken from my sleep.Tylenol dont help at all.Sometimes intercouse makes the pain go away (feels like a bad stabbing pain on my right side about the ribs and pelvis)~Are these symptoms of oc? I am very worried ~Any help would be greatly appreciated~Thank you all so much~

I really apprciate all your help here...Like I mentioned I feel fine once the pain subsides ..but when its presend for those few minutes I feel like I need to go to the restroom a few times and empty the bladder..All of the females in my family have all had hystorectomys around the age of 40 due to female problems.......One aunt had 7 tumors ,they were called fibroids and non cacerous~The thing that most worried me about this was the pain on the right side, which made me assume it was a cancerous tumor causing it~I eat fine infact I over eat most of the time~Have a great appetite~So in returning to the Dr What are some things I should ask him to look for? And are there any pain meds that will help with this because OTC meds DONT TOUCH IT~I really only need the meds two weeks out of the month~The pain is very very excrusiating to say the least~Thanks sooo much for all of your help here ~I so apprciate it~

Yes ditto here, for endometriosis and endometrioma in ovary.
It amazes me that ob/gyn don't know how to diagnose this or suggest it as a possiblity sooner, and let people suffer and worry for so long. I saw2 different ob/gyn and they said it was all in my head, but turns out to be extensive endo after I persisted for an answer. I was worried sick and the ob/gyn's couldn't even suggest this was possible cause.

Good luck.

Your story sounds like my story when I had periods!!  Geez, what a nightmare!  I have been diagnosed recently with ovarian cancer, but that wasn't what was causing the pain...it was continued problems with endometriosis.  My pain was on the right side, and the tumor was on the left side.  And usually, OVCA doesn't cause the type of pain you're experiencing.  Ovarian cysts, before they rupture, can also cause the pain you are experiencing.  Once they rupture, the pain goes away. The ultrasound you had showed what the doc saw as a cyst.  These are fluid filled and usually rupture on their own...it's just an egg that can't get out basically.  Only thing you need to be concerned about is whether or not you develop a fever or other signs of infection...then get to a doctor.  Your doc may suggest an exploratory laparoscopy to have a look see...go with his/her suggestion.  It's a minimal incovenience for a LOT of peace of mind...

Thank you so much for writing back so promptly...I feel much better after reading your posting....Yes I am infertile I have NEVER been able to concieve and never knew exactly why....I have heard of this before but never knew the exact symptoms of it....I would def love to get it treated before it worsens..nothing else about it bothers me except the pain before the period (about a week before)I Can always predict my period because of this..I pass several blood clots during my cycle as well...This has been ongoing since I can remember actaully..I have been in pain every month for almost two weeks ever since I was a teen(almost gotten use to it)My period is def so painlful that I usually stay in bed for the first two days and that doesnt even help..when my cycle is all said and done I am fine for about two weeks then it starts all over again...I just wonder if anyone else has had the pain that lasts about ten min and then goes away for about two hours(sharp and stabbing)..As you can see I am full of questions I am sorry I have so many to ask.....I just worry so much about oc...my mom thought she had it but it all turned out to be fibroids? (I think thats what they called it)thanks so much again for your post~I think I might be able to get some sleep finally~

Hello,
Before I say anything, I am going to tell you, Do Not Worry! I know it's easier said than done, but I really would not worry. There's a saying about worrying that goes like this, "the biggest worries are the ones that never happen", we need to save up our worries for when we really need them, and I'm pretty sure you don't need them here. With Ovarian Cancer, pain is persistent, it doesn't usually leave. I know for me, I have had an ultrasound report come back saying that their first consideration would be of ovarian malignancy. Now for me, I have pain every single day; when I wake up in the morning, and when I go to bed at night; it never leaves me except when i take my prescribed medications and narcotics to manage the pain. Obviously not all cases are AS bad but every person that I have talked to and that I know who has had Ovarian cancer (both grandmothers), their pain was always there.

I have had quite a bit of exposure to ovarian problems and gynecological problems throughout the last 2 years, and with everything that my doctors have educated me on, it sounds to me like you might have something called Endometriosis. It's a fairly debilitating disease around the time of ones period (and the week before) and usually goes away after the period is over. If at all possible, i would talk to your family physician or you ob/gyn and consider your options in testing for Endometriosis. Sometimes they can pick it up through ultrasound, but not always. You can ask your doctor to have an MRI done of the lower abdomen to look for endo but again, it's not always visible. I went for an MRI this past summer, suspecting that I had Endo as well as what I was going through however nothing showed up on the scan. Now however, the radiologist at my last ultrasound is telling me that endometriosis cannot be excluded. I think that the only clear way to diagnose endometriosis or any disease for that matter, is surgery but nobody wants to have to do that if they don't need it. I would definitely ask your physician what your options are and ask to do some tests. The CA125 test, tests for ovarian cancer (which i don't think you have, it doesn't sound like it) but again, i don't have a crystal ball, you should always get something looked at if you're worried, it's your life and you should live it the fullest! The CA125 test also tests for endometriosis but the only thing with that test is not only does it give false positives for ovarian cancer, it doesn't show clear readings unless the patient is experiencing a flare up. So, a lot of times it can be conflicting. Unless the endometrial lining is flared, it won't show a clear reading according to my ob/gyn. Apparently it looks for the cells, and a lot of times, the cells can only be seen during the flare up (I believe it's the week before the period and the week of if I'm not mistaken, but I would definitely check with your doctor first). I hope all of this helps. Another thing I just thought of, you say you have no children, I know that it could be a personal decision but I just wanted to let you know just in case it wasn't because a lot of people don't have children due to infertility; I know that endometriosis affects fertility and a lot of women who have the disease have infertility problems. I know that's a touchy subject for some people, I just thought I would give you all the insight I have on the disease.
And again, don't worry.. I'm sure everything is fine. I'm sure it's a simple answer and everything will turn out fine for you.
Good luck with everything!
Hope and Faith to you,
best wishes.
