Brown discharge?

Hello, I know I've also posted before that brown discharge can be old  blood, for one, another thing it can be, as Angie Lou said above, is a fistual.  I have a recto vaginal fistula, which is an unnatural tunnel from the rectum to the vagina.  It causes bleeding and emits infection.  I used to have low grade fevers and just feel crappy, but now I'm on antibiotics and it has helped some.  There are different types, even closed fistulas.

But this is pure speculation based on my own experience, you need to get test that will find out what is going on, PET, MRI, CT, because that is the only way you will get a true answer and get closer to a solution.  I've had pap smears, they don't diagnosis these problems, neither does a vaginal exam.  Good luck, Angie

Nobody tells you that fistulas can develop from pelvic surgeries until it happens to you.  I consider myself luckier than most; my fistula went from my bladder to my vagina.  But, fistulas can develop from the colon to the vagina as well and I feel for the women that have this happen to them.  I suggest you post your questions to Dr Hoyte in the doctor forum of Urogynecology.

He really helped me with a question I had at the time my first surgery to repair the fistula didn't take.  The second surgery was the charm and I don't miss those adult diapers at all.

My best, Angie
