Most doctors will wait and see if there are any changes to the cyst. The waiting is the hardest part. If there is any kind of change I would go for a 2nd opinon and I might go anyway. I cannot believe that any GYN would tell you that because of your age they aren't worrying. I, personally, would question their education and ability.
Unfortuately, OvCa does not know age. There is a father that post who's 15 year old was dx'd with OvCa and there are many women in their 20s, 30s and 40s that post on this forum. Yes, the older you get the higher you are at risk for OvCa but, it can still happen to younger people.
Now all that being said, most ovarian cysts are benign. OvCa is a rare diagnosis.
If you are not comfortable with what your doctor is telling you, then you should seek a 2nd opinion.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I agree with Pam I think a second opinion here is necessary, if it is indeed a benign tumor, all well and good, but in the slight chance it might be cancer, catch it as soon as possible, one lady on here had a CA125 of 28, age was 24 and she drew the unlucky straw. As another lady says, you only have one chance to get it right. We all want this darn beast caught early and we all rejoice when they turn out benign.
There was a case of a girl 6 years old who was diagnosed with OC. It seems to be very comon for dr to refer such symptoms to GI dr. Yet you want to catch OC or any cancer as early as possible. I agree with the others, I would find another doctor and maybe go for a third opinion as well, Hope you get positive news.
