GOOD NEWS

I wanted to tell everyone especially NewLifeGal that my brain MRI came back stable. There's no new tumor growing. Last MRI that I had 6 months ago showed a flair (1-2 mm) and this MRI showed the same. So no new growth! What a relief because my neck has been aching and everyone knows that  aches and pains can be something else (or our mind wanders too much). So in two years there's nothing new  (in the brain). My next MRI is in 6 months.

Please anyone reading this for the first time, don't get nervous. It is extremely rare that ovarian cancer metasizes to the brain. Usually if that happens it is when your whole body is filled with cancer. I  had nothing showing up elsewhere in the body except a very tiny lymph node in the breast and it went to the brain. This same thing happened with NewLifeGal. I have never known anyone else that this has happened to. Chemo took care of that breast lymph node.

The growth now is in the abdominal area. When I had the brain symptoms I thought it could be Alzheimers. I am so grateful it's not that.
How are you doing NewLifeGal?

:) Helen

Newlifegal - Good luck to you.  Sorry to hear of your's and everyone elses troubles.  I do feel for everyone I just lost my mom Oct. 9th to Uterancancer in the lungs and pretty much her whole body.  She fought it for 5+ years.  Then a month later found out I had an ovarian cyst that was 17cm and a small fibroid.  Thank God so far it's not cancerous as far as I know.  Really and honestly good luck to anyone and everyone going through this yourselves or with someone else.  my prayers are with each and everyone of you.

freshair, I'm so glad to hear your good news.  What a wonderful Christmas present!

Actually, no one really knows why my cancer metastized to my brain.  I did have stage IIIc which means my cancer was fairly well spread but the strange thing about it was that my ca125 did not reflect any problem while these tumors were growing.  It remained at 12 so now we feel we can't rely on that number to check the status of the cancer.  Yesterday I had a pelvic CT scan to see where we are at.  I've come of a hefty dose of steroids and still feel distended.  Also have little appetite so based on these symptoms, we decided to go ahead and do the scan.  I'm praying nothing shows up.

I don't have a brain MRI unitl next month.  Also hoping the gamma knife did the job and took care of those lesions.

That's great news and I know you are relieved.  Maybe you can relax a bit, if that's possible, and get on with the New Year.

Happy Holiday,
Shawn
