HPV?

Since I have been 16...I have had an abnormal papsmear.  I am 25 now.  Its been almost a year now since my last annual.  Last time I went...the doctor told me I needed to have a colopscopy.  WEll...I still haven't gotten it done.  I am really scared that it is going to hurt.  If I don't get this taken care of...does it inevitably mean I will get ovarian cancer?  And has anyone had a colop?  How painful on a scale of 1-10?

Hi there, well 3 or 4 years ago I had papsmear that showed abnormal changes, so my gyn did coloscopy. The coloscopy felt much the same as smear. My results came back as CIN 3, and therefore had to have a leeps procedure done. Abnormal papsmears DO NOT mean ovarian cancer. I suggest you have the coloscopy done. It really does not hurt, any more than smear.

A colposcopy is used to detect cervical cancer not ovarian cancer. Don't sweat it, just make sure you do it. Colposcopies aren't really painful as much as a brief pinch. If the cells are abnormal, you'll be okay, there's lots of non-invasive procedures available. Putting it off will only make your stress level and condition possibly worsen. Good luck
