Please help me understand - Totally confused

My mother was diagnosed over a year ago - complete hysterectomy followed by 6 rounds of CarboPlat and Taxol.  Ca-125 went down to 14 started maintenance chemo of Taxol only that did not work Ca-125 began to slowly rise recurrence. We did 4 rounds of Doxil Ca-125's still rose then the doctor incorporated Avastin.  This was the first break where my mom's CA-125 went down.  My mom had two rounds of the Doxil and Avastin.  Just this past Friday the doctor said there was a problem (with no further explanation) with the Avastin and we went back to only Doxil.  My concern is that the Doxil did not work before.

My mother's blood pressure was not up so I do not understand what other reason he would have taken her off when it seemed to be working.

Any thoughts???

Thanks for your responses.  I will be contacting her onc to see why the Avastin was removed.  I forgot about the intestinal issues that could arise.

Avastin can cause bowel perforations in some patients, so it needs to be treated warily if there could be a problem in that area.....hugs...Helen...

It could be her blood counts  as I understand Avastin , it can do  bad things to the counts, maybe a call to the doctor can get you the answers you need. Avastin also has been shown to create problems in the intestines. Good Luck
