ovarian cyst

Hi all-  I am hoping some of you have gone through my symptoms and can give me your advice.  Six months ago I went to my ob/gyn for heavy periods, clotting, yada yada yada.  In an ultrasound they found a complex ovarian cyst with abnormal blood flow and uterine polyps.  I had a d and c and had 3 polyps removed and my periods are now pretty normal.  My uterus is enlarged to the size of a 3 month pregnant uterus.  I went back for another ultrasound of the ovary and it looked more simple yet had grown some.  I went back again today and now it is a little smaller but looks more like a mass with abnormal blood flow again.  The ultrasound tech asked if I had pain (I do, but nothing excrutiating) and told me that the cyst looked very much like an ectopic pregnancy but I am not pregnant.  The doc came in and suggested we remove my right ovary since it remains a problem.  Now, I have 4 wonderful children and feel my family is very complete.  That being said, I am not emotionally attached to my ovaries or my uterus.  I do look as though I am about 3 months pregnant and I know that abdominal distention is a symptom of ovarian cancer.  My CA125 was normal.  OK, I think that almost covers it.  Do you all recomment having the ovary removed?  Why or why not?

Thanks so much for listening.  I look forward to hearing your opinions,

M

Just had a biopsy done on uterus...size of a 3 month pregnant uterus and ultrasound showed mass on left ovary the size of small grapefruit. My periods have become pretty heavy and the last three have lasted 2 weeks. No pain, though now, I feel pressure or something down there....am 55 years old. Am waiting on CA-125 and pap. Am very very scared....

I found out that I had OC by surprize, I did not know I had cysts had had US because of fibroids.  Had I known what I know now, I would get it out.  I would want to know.  If fact with my fibroids had they recommended a hysterectomy I would have done that, found out that my uterus was enlarged the year before I was diagnosed, at the time I was told I had cancer.  Good luck, the majority of cysts are benign I truly hope yours is.
