Hemorrhaging Ovarian Cyst

Hello, I am 21 years old and have just been informed that I have a hemorrhaging ovarian cyst. I know this is not cancer but the ladies over in fertility told me to ask you. My doctor said that we would have to wait two more months for another ultrasound to see if this is a problem or not. I have been having the symptoms for six months now (Month long cramping on the right side, painful urination during my period, abd pain during intercourse, and extreme cramping during my period). I was also informed in my visit that my birth control has been ineffective for the past six months. So now I'm wondering why I haven't gotten pregnant. My husband and I are thinking of starting a family soon. Can anyone tell me if these cyst can effect your fertility? Thanks.

helloo! i just want to say that i also suffer from three ovarian cysts and have had to dedicate alot of my time to do some research on it. of course the doctors prescribed you birth control. they get a lot of money from the pharmeceutical companies that manufacture birth control too. when you have ovarian cysts it is your bodies natural way of telling you that something is wrong! it prevents you from ovulating because your body is unfit to concieve. listen to your body. it has a lot to say. by taking birth control you are only surpressing your bodie's problem. you are preventing your body from naturally ovulating. so i think the answer should be to fix the problem not temporarily be rid of it or to remove the cysts by surgery (unless it is cancerous). let your body do it's job by helping it function, not shutting it down. i would suggest using a natural progesterone cream and using the brand of pill that you can get at the vitamin shoppe called estrobalance. since you may have estrogen dominance and may need to balance it out. you can help your body regulate itself. also try a natural progesterone cream. it's all about hormones really and they somehow need to be balanced. also try a yoga class too give you some piece of mind since pain can also be psychological.

Hello hyfagal32! I'm sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. I am 22 years old and have been struggling with ovarian cysts since 2003, but serious pain since February 2006. I am going on my 4th gynecologist. Let me give you a little bit about my past with the cysts.

In February, I went to regular gynecologist, who did ultrasounds, said it was a cyst, but nothing to worry about, and put me on three different kinds of birth control. It did help a little bit, but once I stopped taking the birth control, they came back. She also thought it was endometriosis.

Went for my 2nd opinion, she said the cyst was going down, nothing to worry about, and gave me more bc.

3rd opinion, I had to have another pap smear, urine tests, etc. and she decided that my pain was coming from my bladder, not the cysts, and sent me to a urologist. From there, the urologist said nothing is wrong, go back to gyno. Gyno called urologist and ordered a cystoscopy (scope of the bladder). I finally threw a fit and said forget it! I had been poked and prodded too much! I was going to another doctor in a bigger metro city who would hopefully have some answers.

I went yesterday to that doctor, and he thought all of my previous docs were crazy for making this go on for so long. It made my cysts worse, and are now hemmoraghing and complex. I am schedled for a laprascopic surgery next Wednesday to drain and remove the cyst, check for internal bleeding and infections and endo.

Now with all of this being said, and if you're still reading this long story, I just wanted to let you know that it's ok to go to another doctor to get an opinion. Because I can personally tell you out of all 4 docs, none of them said the same thing. I am in serious pain all of the time! I have constant pain below my belly button all the way to my hips with shooting pain in both sides of abdomen. I can barely walk at times, and nothing helps. I've been on serious pain killers for about two months. There is no comfort zone for me... it's always there.

My husband and I have also been trying to have a baby since February (when all of this started). We have yet to conceive. I'm sure that because I waited so long with all these foolish doctors that I'm going to have a hard time conceiving. Everyone kept telling me the cysts were normal. I have horrible periods, with extreme cramping also. It's just a nightmare. I hope you get some relief, and hopefully with this surgery, I will too. So, all in all, you need to probably get another doctor, and not wait two months for ultrasounds... usually, you should only have to wait about a month (for insurance to pay) and then if the bc isn't working, they need to move on. Trust me, I've been there. I hope this helps a little.
