How Fast can cancer spread

My mom just had surgery to remove the cancer from her ovaries & uterus...Two months ago when they did the cat scan everything else was clear.  She just had another cat scan because of an infection and they saw a spot on her lung that was not there two months ago...Could it have spread there so quickly?

It is more likely that they missed the spot on her lung in the earlier scan -- it is also unusual for ovarian to spread directly to the lung without first hitting the liver, or bladder or other organs between the abdomen and the lungs -- be proactive == ask for a re read of the original scan -- then ask for a re read of the new scan -- then find out what they plan to do if the spot is still there and they can't tell what it is
Don't assume the ovarian has spread there until someone tells you that for sure
Hang in there -- it is so hard when someone you love has these issues and you feel like you have no control over it -- so take control with your mom

In a fast moving cancer, it does generate fast, 1 loose cell divides, then those 2 divide and so forth, my daughters scans were clear, then 1 month later  there is more cancer, I would say if a person can handle the chemo to take it all the time untill  the scans turn out clean for many years later.  Hind site is always good, but what you learn as you travel this road is far more effective, be alert and be proactive, it is your life and not the doctors  so never take all their words for being correct,  question and then suggest.

It could spread there but maybe it was missed on the last test. I have had new areas show up and then 1 month later they were gone so please don't take this as being really bad. Did they check it out during her surgery?? or is my time date off.  You didn't say when she had the scans or surgery.  Sorry if I couldn't be of more help. I hope your Mom does well and recovers quickly~~~~Joanne
