Hi Everyone....I posted about a week ago about my mom having a complex cyst on her ovary as well as a distended uterus. (Per the CT scan) It had been causing a significant change in her bowel habits, not to mention a good deal of pain. She had also had a pretty big drainage and a bit of red spotting from her uterus, and was scheduled to see a GYN this past Thursday. Well, the roller coaster continues, but I think things are sounding more positive than I had feared, although we're certainly not out of the woods yet. Her CA-125 came back at 100, so the GYN said there could be something brewing there, but probably not advanced yet. She took a biopsy of Mom's uterus (she's been complaining ever since, so I KNOW she's still feeling feisty!) which should be back in time for her next visit on this coming Tuesday, which will include an ultrasound and a chest x-ray. Bottom line so far is that she will definitely need a complete hysterectomy in the near future. If the biopsy comes back positive for uterine cancer, she will need to go to Chicago for the surgery. If it's negative, they can do it at her hospital in Indiana. The chest x-ray is just part of the pre-op that they want to get out of the way as long as she's there for the ultrasound. The GYN made a comment to my mom that "I know you're scared, but you're going to be OK. We can fix this." I'm not sure what made her so confident of that, but I'm hoping she knows what she's talking about! Actually she's a very well respected doctor, and my mom just loved her! That's saying a lot, because my mom does NOT generally like doctors!
