HELP!

Mom is 2 years post op., and finished her 35th treatment with abraxane. For 2 months both legs have been swollen, red, painful, and hard! She has been to her regular oncologist, family doctor, vascular doctor  and has undegone lymphademia physical therapy with no success. The onco. has her on antibiotics for "lymphangitis"; it has been 8 days and she has had no change regardless of antibiotics. She has had a doppeler ultrasound and no blood clots were found. Does anyone have any idea what this is from? Has anyone else out there had the same problem? Please help us!

I don't know if I can help you. anyway my mother faced the same problem. Her legs became huge and painpul and she could hardly walk.
she did all tests and scan but nothing could explain this situation. Blood flow was normal.
Finally doctors discovered that, due to her weak immune system, she has mononucleosis and this disease that in normal people is not severe, has developed an infection in her gall bladder (I hope the english word is correct) . Surgeon told us that it was so full of infection that it has become as big as a melon.
Now temperature is normal and legs have miraculously become normal size.
Maybe your mother has a different situation. I wish you to find the solution soon.
Bye
Moira

I found this web site that might help...

www.articlesbase.com/medicine-articles/how-to-cure-or-alleviate-edema-including-lymphedema-380119.html

If medhelp won't let this link through, try googling Lymphademia Treatment.  Hope this helps...Cindy
