SCHEDULED LAPROSCOPY

I am scheduled for next Wednesday for a Laproscopy on a cyst on my left ovary, it is approx 7cm, I am extremely nervous to what this might lead too once they do the biopsy - what if it is cancerous - what are the next steps.
Also how do you feel after a laproscopy when you go home, what is the standard recovery time?  The doctor mentioned I will need 3 days off or so.

ASK the doctor to remove as much air (gas) as possible.  They can do this - they just did it for me this time around and it was sooo completely different.  I had shoulder pain for the first night - but NOTHING compared to the first time.

I was very tired and sore the following day but it got better each day.  I was out of work for 3 days - came to work on the 4th (shouldn't have)it exhausted me.  I will tell you - the "air" or gas they put into you hurts for the following few days until it comes out.  Ask your surgeon to attempt to relieve you of the gas as much as they can.  Your shoulders and chest will feel extremely heavy and it does hurt.  I don't want this to shock you - it did me.  They said "your shoulders might hurt" - I called them and was like "hurt my butt - it is killing me"........ have someone (loved one) rub the front and back of the chest and in between the shoulder blades in circular motions - it helps relieve the pressure on the chest. Shoulders too!

I was off work for about 4 days after my Lap.  You are pretty drugged up the first day.  It isn't too painful afterwards.  You just can't do much of anything.  Good luck!  Keep us posted on your results.
