I wonder if I have another ovarian cyst

Anybody ever had a doc discover a correlation between hormone levels (please tell me what blood tests) and acne, weight gain, low back pain, depressive symptoms, and prior history of ovarian cyst?  Thanks for sharing what you have been through.

the bladder infection that I did not have any symptoms from is gone now.  My blood pressure is lower due to the diuretics.  My back is still in pretty bad shape.  LOVE ibuprofen.

I very likely, do not; repeat I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER CYST!  My gyn did a pelvic and it's all good.  Still wondering about the urinary infection and HTN.  We'll see.  Godblesses

Geesh.  Well I am dis-satisfied with the exam.  I came out with a RX for diuretic (water pill) and antibiotics.  All of a sudden now I have high blood pressure and a Urinary tract infection?!  He felt my belly which hurt a bit all the way to my spazzing back, but didn't do a pelvic (which is how my gyn happened to find it originally).  I did not have any symptoms with the cyst that was removed.

I have to admit,I dipped my urine at work about 2 months ago for the heck of it (no burning urination, no fever) and it was positive for infection then too.  I never did anything about it or told my doc.  BAd nurse!

I'm going to call my gyn tomorrow.  Thank you for asking.

Thanks dian.  Here in Washington, I watched the Seahawks get ripped off in the Superbowl.  It was the most football I have ever watched in one sitting.  What a birthday.  Today I am going to my GP to see about the back pain and hopefully have him check for the presence of "fullness in the adnexal region".  I just want to feel great again.

thanks gals.  I am 28 (today actually), so I don't think peri-meno is the cause.  Also, as far as I'm aware anyway - I have only had one large ovarian cyst discovered and surgically removed 5 months ago.  They did not do any hormone testing, and I never had symptoms.  Except-now that I am presently experiencing another bout of back pain- same as I experienced one week before the cyst was found.  I did not correlate the back pain with the cyst at the time. It's just the back pain, accompanied by unexplained recent weight gain, acne, urinary changes.  I plan to go to the doc tomorrow just to be sure.  I think I'm being hypersensitive.

Yes, there are basic correlations.  I do not have the reference sites for the studies, as they are in my other computer which is not operational.

Typically, the weight gain, acne, and depression are common symptoms for perimenopause, a time when hormone levels are no longer 'in sync.'  I was tested when I first began having these problems several years ago, but it was not a blood test that was used to diagnose my hormone levels.  I was given a kit with small wooden "spatulas"; just as with a test for DNA, I swiped my cheeks and gums then sealed the spatula in the baggie provided.

Anyway, having cysts or tumors on an ovary obviously can impair the function of the ovaries, thus producing the same horrid symptoms.   Also, there are other conditions in the endocrine system that can cause similar problems.

As for correlations with cysts, and other problems...I would guess, "Yes."  Prior to beginning perimenopause several years ago, I had not suffered any problems associated with my reproductive organs.  It seems these days that I spend more time in the gyn's office, or at some imaging center, than I do at work.  In 2004, I had all the symptoms of ovarian cancer, but I was fortunate that it was "nothing more" than a grapefruit-sized endometrioma that was removed laparoscopically along with the ovary and fallopian tube.  Since then, I have developed more cysts, and will have a procedure next month to have a uterine polyp removed.

I'd read that poster about "Growing old is not for sissies," and I must say that I am rapidly becoming a true believer!!

Hey,
I wonder the same thing about cysts. I'd like to have some answers too! (I get re-occuring cysts, acne and bad mood swings - controlled by antidepressants) The symptoms you're describing almost sound like PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Do you have irregular periods? Weight issues?? You might want to do some research on PCOS. Check out Webmd. I've gone through a gazzillion ultrasounds & now a laparoscopy - nothing abnormal found. But NEVER have the doctors checked my hormones. I'm definately going to bring that up when I go in next week.

Good luck
