I know you are probably getting tired of the standard answer - talk to your mom's doctor about it.  It is very obvious that you are a very loving daughter who would go to the moon and back if it would help your mom.  My heart aches for you because I know how bad your heart hurts.  But, I really don't think there is anything you can do that you are not already doing.  What is her doctor saying about the ascities?  I hope you are telling her doctor everything you are telling us here.  If she is uncomfortable from the fluid, then she needs to have it removed, even though it will likely come back.  Pain control is the most important thing here.  There is no reason she should have to suffer.  If you are not getting any satisfaction from her current doctor, it is never too late to seek a second opinion. It does take time for the chemo to work enough to see a decrease in the ascites, but if the current treatment isn't working, then you should talk to her doctor about trying something else.  Communication is so very important, and the doctor needs to know just how bad her discomfort is becoming.  Mom should have you or another family member with her who will speak up for her if she isn't speaking up for herself.

It may not ease your fears, but from what I've seen from your posts, we would all be so lucky to have someone in our corner who cares for us as much as you care for your mom.  Don't forget to take care of yourself, too. Take a break every now to refresh and rest. Keeping yourself healthy is just as important.

Lots of hugs,
Gail

I am so sorry you are in this position, I did not have ascites myself and hope someone will be along  with some advice soon for you.
You and your Mum are in my prayers.
