I have Ovarian cancer stage iv... so the answer is NO it didn't lower my risk  I have no cancer in my family, breast fed my kids, have always weighed less than 120 pounds and my risk was nil... guess what.. It is said to reduce the risk, all but slightly. The thinking is that it may protect the ovaries from potential cancer causing substances that enter the genital tract. It may reduce it, but does not eliminate it. Even removal of the ovaries does not completely eliminate the risk of ovarian cancer.
