Infection After Lap

by mrsomes, Jul 05, 2006 12:00AM
Had Laproscopic surgery 6 weeks ago.  Was healing fine but over this weekend the larger of the incisions started to hurt.  It's now tender, a little red and there is some slight infection.  I've been cleaning it and using polysporin. Is this normal?

I can only suggest that you go back to your doctor to have this checked out.  I don't think any incision infection is normal.  They can better assess your situation and put you on the right antibiotic if need be.  I have always assumed afterward that there is some tenderness with the incisions but not visible infection or pain.
