The hospital nurse never called back yesterday so I went ahead and left a message with my Dr's nurse here (the one who referred me). (The last time I called the nurse at the operating hospital, she took over 3 weeks to return my call.) If no one calls me back today, I'm going to try to get in touch with the pathologist tomorrow. Thanks everyone for responding.
I know what you mean. I have to tell the doctors office my daughters birthdate and middle name because there is another little girl about five years older with same first and last name. But they've been good about making sure they get the right files.
I know that many times my report gets put in someone elses file....believe it or not, there are 2 of us with the same name, and neither my first nor last name is common. Growing up I only had one class mate with the same first name and known with the same last name.
Hello thanks for answering. A nurse is supposed to call me back regarding the missing report, hopefully it is just a mistake. I know they have lost stuff before because I had a pap smear in July and it's not in my records either. Everyone keeps insisting they probably didn't do a pap smear even though I remember clearly getting it and even have a bill for it. Thanks again.
I guess first I would find out if they did do a biopsy, and if the report was some how left off of the lab report. I would call the referring doctor then and tell him your concerns. All tissue removed from a body during surgery is "supposed" to be looked at for abnormalities. But I do know also that many mistakes are made in labs even in the best of hospitals. You might even want to call the pathology department at the hospital and ask them to verify that no biopsy was done. Good Luck
Also--do you think there is any use in asking for a repeat CA-125? The first (only) one was done last June. I am thinking if it really was an endometrioma, especially since I am now on Lupron, the CA-125 should be much lower?
