The procedure is not a big deal at all. I usually have it done under heavy sedation or general anesthetic. It's maybe 20 minutes or so, and the only discomfort she'll have, is once you wake up, it burns to pee. There may also be some blood in the urine, which is quite normal and nothing to worry about. I'm sure it will relieve her pain....they've been quite helpful to me. I'm on my 9th one in less than 2 years...they should be changed every three to six months or so.
Good luck,
Becky
Becky I hope you read these 2 posts, since you have gone through this maybe you can enlighten them a little.
Can you PLEASE tell me about your stent procedure..My sister has stage 5 transitional cell carsonoma and her prognosis is grim..She needs the stents to relieve the blocked kidney, her pain is acute and about a 10 on the doctors scale..I realize you have your own problems and for this Im sorry and I appreciate everything you can tell us about the procedure...How the procedure is done and how long before some of the pain goes away (if any) and how long were you hospitalized. Thank you for your assistance we know nothing and the doctor of course can't be reach the coordernator is on vacation... Thank You Again and GOD BLESS
I am so sorry to learn of your misery.....surely you would get answers from your chemo team if they were contacted.....it's bad enough to deal with chemo and then to add the trouble with the stents.....someone needs to help you remedy this situation......keep pushing for help....you shouldn't have to live like this.....don't be nice....make them as miserable as you are until someone listens and reacts to your situation!
Peace.
