My Moms CA-125,.. please advise me...

I just got the results of my Moms ca-125.  She is 4 months post her chemo for ovca 3c.  She finished chemo at 5 then ca-125 dropped to 3 two months later.  Her results today are 6 four months later.  I know its in the normal range and all, but I just need some reassurance that this is no signs of reoccurrence.

I just want to know if this is a sign that it just stabilized it self since she's been done with chemo for 4 months now.  I feel so worried sick that, which I guess is typical for a worried daughter, I just tracked down her nurse to give me some piece of mind that this is normal.  And she did

If any ladies here could provide me their stories of ca-125.  Where it was at at completing chemo and where it is now and has if fluctuated in between.

Thank you so much

It sounds like your Mom is doing really well! My CA125 before surgery was 46 (stage 3C) and after chemo was done it was 20. At my last test, it was 14. Everyones numbers are different and it's quite normal to have small variances like your Moms. I think when they suspect a recurrance, it's when the number doubles or triples between tests. Good Luck!

I am dealing with the same issues.  I just had my levels checked and they have slowly been rising. From 7 to 8 to 10.  My onc doesn't seem concerned but it is hard to let it go.  Since she is still in the single digits, I would think she's doing just fine.

trying looking in "ovarian cancer answers" and scrolling down to dr. goodman's "understanding CA125 fluxations" posted on july 14th.  she has a nice explanation on reading those numbers.  i know some doctors suggest repeating it monthly for 3 to 4 months just in case.  good luck :)
