My sister will begin Chemo in August 2007

My older sister who is 36 had a full hysterectomy 3 1/2 weeks ago and will now begin her Chemo Therapy in 2 weeks for the next 4 months.  How soon will she lose her hair and how soon does it grow back after chemo?

My hair went quite thin - starting from about two weeks after the first chemo of Taxol and Carboplatin. Had to go on Carboplatin alone for the next nine treatments as I was allergic to Taxol.  My hair - which is white - came back with strong curls and patchy dark brown hair where it has regrown. However as the hair has grown the curls have more or less gone - the dark hair is growing out - and my hair is much thicker on one side than the other!!
Full marks to my hairdresser who must feel like pulling her own out when when tries to style mine:-)
Must admit that my National Health (I am in the UK) wig is really good - no-one recognised it as a wig!

My hair started falling out right around 3 weeks after my first carboplatin/Taxol treatment...I cut my hair really short a week before my treatment started and was glad I did.  My hair is coming back after 5 chemos and it is also platinum and about 1/8 of an inch long....

I hope your sister does good with her treatments...

I was told my hair would fall out two weeks after starting chemo, it's the taxol that does it, 2 weeks to the day it started falling so I had my head shaved.  Good luck to your sister.

I was on Carboplatin/Taxol and I lost my hair 3 weeks after my first cycle of chemotherapy soon as I stopped the taxol my hair began to grow back.

It depends on the drug that you are on.

I wish your sister well.

every one is different, my daughter started to lose her hair at about 2 weeks after first chemo, she went and had a short cut prior to the chemo starting,  it started to come back after her chemo was finished, came in curly and platinum colored,  really cute now,  Occasionally some do not lose their hair.
