While neuropathy is numbness, mine didn't hurt. I had neuropathy from my first treatment. It wasn't too bad, but it was constant. I took lots of Vit B6, which helped just a little. It took quite a while for the neuropathy to go away, but it finally did. 3 years later!
Best wishes to your mom.

My mom had moderate-to-severe neuropathy during her initial chemotherapy with cisplatin and taxol, though hers didn't start until round 4 of a 6-round cycle. Her symptoms started as numbness in her fingertips, toes and the soles of her feet. Later she had odd shooting pains in those same areas, like tingling but much much stronger. What is your mom's pain like - shooting, occasional, ache-y?
