Ovarian Cyst and Cancer

I've been diagnosed with a 10 x 6 x 6 Ovarian cyst. It started w/ severe back pain, and an X-ray. Then a an ultra sound, vaginal ultra sound and pelvic MRI. I'm experiencing pain in both ovaries, my pelvis, lower back, and now abdomen. Yesterday, I woke w/ severe pain, incontinence, nausea. Dr. told me to go to ER. The E.R. Dr. read my MRI and said something about a lesion, and then said he needed some x-rays and possibly a full MRI on my back and neck. He mentioned cancer but didn't reiterate, just that I needed tests done. They pumped me full of some kind of pain medication which made me completely loopy. I was alone, so I didn't understand what was happening, added Pepcid and two other things to my port and put me on Saline drip. During the 10 hrs that I was there, no one checked on me or told me anything. They just whisked me away for a 3 hr long horrible closed MRI which once again they put something in my port. (this was to calm me) The ER was extremely busy, and understaffed so I can see why I had to be put on the back burner, so I just rested. Then the dr. comes in, says the back scan looks good and they are releasing me. Told me to keep my appt. with Gynecology, and walked out of the room. My appointment isn't until the end of next month. I'm still weak, nauseous, and in pain. Is this normal? What is a lesion on my cyst and should I seek help sooner?

Thanks Alex! You have a really good outlook on life. Actually, I think I'm going to be ok. They called me on Thurs, and then messaged an oncologist who specializes in this. he came in on his day off, to take a look. I am having surgery this Saturday. He wants to get in there, and just get everything out. He made me feel very comfortable, and I have faith in him. He doesn't think I have anything to worry about. I won't lie, I'm scared because I have little to no time to prepare, but I'm just going to go with the flow. Thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. And for you, I wish nothing but a beautiful tomorrow.

A lesion is simply an unknown spot on a MRI or CT Scan. It means nothing by itself. A radiologist and a gynecologist guess what it is with your history, blood work and other exams.I have MS lesions in my brain (they thought they were something deadly at first), I have a lesion on my kidney which is nothing, and I was told I was born with lesions on the liver and spleen. They turned out to be something else. With these expensive machines they see a lot of things they do not even understand half the time. I no longer read the reports until I have a doctor to explain them to me. Several times the doctors have been wrong on their guesses. I have learned not to worry about them.

ERs are not good places for diagnosis. They are places to patch you up. They pass you on to someone else to diagnose you. If you need relief from pain or need your life save ERs are great. Otherwise they do little.

January will be here soon. I know it is hard not to worry. I am a pro now with Multiple Sclerosis and Cancer. I worry very little these days. I have a good Primary Care Doctor. I let her worry for me. She is a good liar. I ask her if I should worry and she says "No". I can tell when she is worried.

Keep good notes of symptoms. I was told I had cancer three times and some other nasty diseases and they were wrong.

I do have cancer now. I have been diagnosed for a year and a half. It is not as bad as I thought it would be. I just went for a weeks trip to Florida and I an having chemo. I ride horses and train dogs. I have a good life. I have few symptoms from the chemo but I only have one more round. I went to the beach in Florida. I went camping in the mountains and at the beach last year.

Life is what you make of it. I try not to worry because it only hurts me. I have a crippling disease and stage 4 Cancer but I plan to have a good life.

It is okay to be worried or scared but it does not help much.
