Ovarian Cyst vs Cancer

I have a cyst on my right ovary and another on my left.  My gyne has done a couple ultrasounds and saw that they were going down in size (last one was about 4 months ago).  I have been in pain and nauseated for the last three months now.  Everything I've read indicates that symptoms from cysts can be very much like symptoms of ovarian cancer.  I am wondering how I tell the difference (there is a very long cancer history in my family).  Do I keep going for ultrasounds or do I hit a point where surgery would be best?

Thank you - I have been doing alot of reading in this forum, and am comforted by the fact that I am not the only one dealing with all this.  Glad we found a place for us.   Thanks again

My suggestion to you would be to get a referral to a gyn/oncologist....this is their arena of specialty.  I don't say this because it is cancer but their expertise is your best bet for getting to the bottom of this situation.  If there is surgery in your future they are definately to ones you want by your side during the procedure.  Don't continue waiting for ultrasounds.....pain and nausea along with cysts is not to be messed with.   You need to find out what is going on.
Peace.
