Ovarian cysy? or Cancer?

I am 30 year old mother of three.  I have been having pain on my left side for about 8 months.  I recently went for an ultrasound and the results are as follows.
I Have a 3.6cm X 2.6cm X 3.4cm multi-septated hypoechoic mass which is fairly sharply demarcated.  No flow is demonstrated and there is no evidence of free fluid.  I am to repeat the ultrasound in 5 weeks, but I am a nervous wreck. Does this sound like a cyst? or cancer?
A response would be appreciated.

I don't know about the details of your cyst, but the over 90% of cysts are BENIGN, especially at your age.  You might see if they'll do a repeat ultrasound sooner than 5 weeks, that's a long time to wait and wonder.

I think "no flow is demonstrated" means there's no blood flow into the cyst, which is a good sign.  (Tumors need blood, cysts don't).

I know how it feels to stare at a test result report over and over trying to figure out what it means for my future.  Sometimes I use an online medical dictionary and put in the words from my test results that I don't understand.  You could try:

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

In your response above, you said that no flow demonstrated meant that there's no blood flow to the cyst. Is that the same as saying no free fluid is seen? Also...mine says that cervical cysts are noted...what's that mean? It also says, "The previously seen echogenic structure in the cervix is no longer present" What is that? This report is from 3/13. I go for another one today as they did find a 2cm cyst on my ovary at that time and I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing.

I'm not a trained professional, I'm just taking educated guesses based on what my drs said to me.  Hopefully someone with some more knowledge will come along soon.

I think no free fluid means no fluid just hanging around in the abdomen (sometimes called ascites).  No flow I think refers to blood flow.  It sounds like you had cysts on your cervix as well, and sorry but I don't know what that would mean.  It also sounds like one of the cysts disappeared.  They do that sometimes, just reabsorb into your body, which means they were benign.

Sorry, I think there's some nurses and an x-ray tecnician on the forum, maybe they'll see this and help you out.  And don't be afraid to call your dr's office to ask questions!

Thanks for the info. My gyn didn't even mention the cervical cysts so I figured they were innocuous. I'm just getting nervous about this thing. The symptoms have been worse the last few days so I'm figuring the cyst has gotten bigger, which of course is not making me too happy!
Thanks again!
