Post on Ultra sound

I posted earlier with the following:
have just been put on a high dose of birth control (6 piils a day X 3days, than 2 pills a day X 3 days, than one a day. I am on day 3) for heavy uncontroled bleeding. I am 45. The doctor examined me and said I had and enlarged right ovary. He did blood work and although all results are not in the WBC CNT normal is(4.4 - 11.0) my results were at 12.7, and the NEUT# normal is (2.0 - 6.9) and mine was at 9.9. Both were marked high. I have been scheduled for an ultrasound, but I can not get in for 3 1/2 weeks. Should I be concerned with the counts I have and try to push harder for a sooner ultrasound? I do have indigestion problems in my upper stomach, lower back pressure, and lower stomach tender at times when pushed. My heavy bleeding has nearly stopped yet, I am still spotting.

I thought I would have to wait for 3 1/2 weeks for an US appt.  I was blessed with a cancellation. I went at 5 pm but results take 2 days which means it will be probably Mon. before results.  LONG weekend for me.  I told nurse doing US about 6 birth control pills a day.  She looked surprise as if she couldn't believe it.  She wouldn't/couldn't give me any info on test, but did ask if I had ever been diagnosed with cyst, or (I think she said fribrostis cyst)  I am only playing a guessing game that I will have cyst(s) how many or what size is to be determine.  I am not uncombortable and this scares   me.  From what I read it is the silent systoms that end up turning into a diagnose of cancer of sometype.  Funny never thought it could be me or even close.

Welcome to the Forum Caw!  I understand your concern!  The results will bring so much more information but it is so hard to wait!  Given the heavy bleeding I'd guess your Dr. is wondering about fibroids.  I gotta say I am a bit shocked with the exorbident dose of BC to try shrinking possible cysts.  So does your Dr. believe the older we are the bigger the dose or what???  Keep a modicum of doubt in case you need to consider a second opinion once you get the results, he/she is not the only GYN in town!  Mary V

I thought the dose was high too, but it did stop the bleeding tomorrow I go to 2 pills a day.  Waitingis the pits.  I will check to see if results come in early, I was lucky to get in early for UT so you never know.  I will also check to see if anymore pending blood work is in.  This is not my normal Primary Care Dr.  I called for same day appointment and they got me right in.  My Primary Care Dr. is on maturnity leave.  I believe if any test show future testing needed or removal of any body parts they will send me to OBGYN.  I go to a military hospital, the only insurance I have since my husband passed.  Thanks for you thoughts.

Welcome.  Perhaps you should also seek a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc.  They are specialists in the female reproductive area.  6 pills a day sure does seem like a lot, but you did say that it stopped the bleeding.  I wonder what else it could do??  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed

Good Morning Caw,
I realize a Mil hospital limits your options (retired) but don't wait for your primary to bring up seeing a GYN, just ask!  glad you got the US sooner!  I am sorry for your loss Caw!  Hang in there and have a great weekend!  MV
