Post surgery recovery time.

First of all, I would just like to thank everyone for sharing their stories.  Without even knowing it, you've helped me a lot.  Well, a little about me...on Dec 30th a CT scan showed that I had a 19x15 cm cyst on my left ovary and a 5 cm dermoid on my right ovary.  An appointment was set up for me to see a gyn/onc Jan 10th.  So on the 10th, I went to see the Dr. and he scheduled me to have surgery on Jan 23rd.  He also told me that if I was feeling too uncomfortable that he would schedule an emergency surgery for me much sooner.  Wow, I thought everything was happening so fast. I really needed some time to process things so I agreed on the Jan 23rd surgery date.  During that two week period I found this wonderful website. Yeah!! Surgery went fine accept for running an allergic reaction to the surgical tape (I ended up with large blisters across my abdomen).  Anyway, I have about a 5 1/2 inch incision running down my abdomen. The cyst, left ovary and tube were removed as well as the dermoid leaving a partial ovary on my right side.  After four days I was released to go home.  And after four weeks I was back at work.  Everything was going good until this last week.  I developed a sharp pain on my left side that has been somewhat persistent.  Is this something I should be concerned about?  Is it just part of the healing process? Is there a chance that I could damage anything if I continued to exercise?  Any thoughts on this would sure be appreciated.
Thanks
Cindy

It is a stabbing pain and it's only when I move that side too.  I think we're feeling the same thing.  I called my doctor and unfortunately he's out of the office for a couple of weeks so I don't have an appt until April 25th, whih is along time to sit and worry about what's going on!  The nurse did say if it gets worse to give them a call and they would try to get me in with someone else.

Hi there,

I met with my ob/onc a couple of days ago for my endo surgery.  I had a TAH and was told no strenous exercise for at least 6-8 weeks.  Mild leg lifts and slow walking OK, but no sit ups, etc.  You could really set yourself back and hurt yourself.  I would ease up a bit and def. give your doc a call about your symptoms.  The last thing you need is surgery at this point.

You may want to give your dr. a call.  Also, you could be doing too much too soon.  It takes at least 6 months to fully heal on the inside and sometimes up to a year.  Like I said, check with your dr and try to ease up a bit on the exercise.  Godspeed
