As a end result my right cyst, overy, tube was removed. Left cyst as well. There is a line (like a c-section) from my belly button down a bit. I had open stomach surgery and 12 staples. I feel 100% better. I just have many question . I'm 22 years of age and am married. I have no children and would like to be come pregant one day soon. Has any one been through a sugery like mine? If so, any advice would be greatly appreciate. For I only know limited information from my doctors. Has anyone had any future or reoccuring problems as a result ? I'm hoping for some information . Thank you

Are your cyst from  endometriosis? I'm going to ask my obgyn more about that when I set my next appointment. It is intesting and makes me wonder if it is what happened to me. Jesse

Congradulation to your sister for being pregant:) My main concern is there is scarring around my intestines from me being born premature three month early. The doctor notice it when I had my surgery. My concern is when I do become pregant sometime, I don't know if there will be major complication due to my surgery 22 years ago and then recently. I'm just affraid my stomach inside is filled weill scar tissue old and new. I wonder why so many women I speak with are having there overys removed do to these so called cyst? I wish females are taught of ovarian issue in high school or health class instead of just the basic stuff. You take care. Jesse

Hi, I am 21 and 3 weeks ago I had a 5 pound liquid filled cyst (para ovarian cyst they called it). I am feeling pretty good, but I also had a laparotomy, full incision from pubic bone to an inch above the belly button (20 staples). My cyst was off of my fallopian tube and slightly attatched to my R ovary. I have strange pains when I go to the bathroom (like a pinching inside, wierd pain) it's hard to describe. I have one spot on my skin though that feels like a burn, it's really strange (it's about 1.5 inches away from the incision so it's strange). I don't know if I'm having mood changes, but I also feel so much better to have such a huge thing out! it was like having a baby (so I'm told because I havn't been through that). There was a tiny cyst starting to form on my other side which they also removed. My huge cyst had been there for about 6 years, so when they took it out, my organs had no idea where to go, and it felt horrible (I am small, only 5 feet). It's really nice to read about someone else my age who has gone through this surgery, thank you so much for posting it helps alot.

I'm glad you also found this board. ( care)I wrote my message hoping for a response to my surprise there are many. Every one here is very helpful. Thanks a bunch Girls:)  I did not go to the doctor for more pain medication the other day. I decided it's time for my body to heal on it's own . My pain is slowly going away on it's own. My abdoman hurts after waking up in the morning, but after ten minutes I feel normal. To care yes, sometimes during the day I feel a stange heated or burning sensation on the good side of my abdoman where my one overy is . I'm also not sure why , but it comes and goes. My best suggestion it to put a lotion pure with no dies or fregances on your stomach. I bought johnson and johnson shea and coco body lotion for wal mart. A student in training at the hospital recommed it to reduce the scar. It smells really good too. Just don't put it on the healing scar for my doctor recommended just a dry bandage until it properly healed. It took about 3 weeks to do so.  Oh yes, I like to take hot shower to relax my muscles when they are sore. This also, help and try not to over work or stomach by liftying or caring anything heavy.  Care did you know the cyst was in your body for six years? I have no idea how long mine were there?

I am 36 and had my left ovary and tube removed 4/24/07 due to a softball sized solid cyst. Ironically, my sister at the same age had the same problem only on her right side.

My sister, who is know 42 and only recently married is 3 months pregnant, with her first child! So you most certainly can get pregnant. It is a natural pregnancy with no drugs or fertilization (not sure if that's the right word but hopefully you know what I mean).

The other thing to remember about the mood swings is that anesthesia also is a major factor in that. I had the crying jags for about 6 weeks.

to the other poster, who said she still has pain where the ovary was removed: It's most likely caused from scar tissue/adhesions.

I'm glad to hear my mood swings are normal . Hehe Yes, I agree that there is more pain in the side where things were removed.  My guess is that side is in the healing process. It is usually a sharp, throbing pain, and sends shock waves all over which causes my mood swings. The can get bad. Atleast,  soon things will be normal again, I have about a month left until my 8 weeks. Today , I accidently feel asleep at the computer, because the pain is so bad. My boss sent me home early do to me not feeling well. I called the obgyn to see him tomarrow . I'm hoping he will give me some  pain medication, otherwise it's to hard to work and not have mood swings. It feels as if my hormones are going  insaine on me. Do you feel this way at all?

I agree with the pain thing.  I still have pain sometime in the area were my ovary was removed.  I don't know exactly why but it is weird.

Oh yeah,  The mood change was one thing the dr. didn't warn me about,  She did tell me about basically everything else.  Until your remaining ovary takes over which can take up to 6-8 weeks, you will have some moodiness, or alot- haha.  The funny thing about the cramps is even now it hurts on the side that I had the ovary removed and not the side with the remaining one.

In genera, l I was always told to get a second opion when going to a dr. In my case , I was lucky enough to have a total of five doctor work as a team. The did a wonderful job and am very pleased  of the result. Now us females have questions about our own individal heath and can relate do to the precedures that were done. It is more comforing when we can relate about the pain which are similar.

I have been asking females that I work with and am shocked at how common cyst are. I wish there was more education out there and  females in general to knew more about these called cyst. I mentioned it to my mom and she has not even heard of them. I'm trying to share my limited knowledge on them to her. I am glad to have found this board , because other people here can relate better then trying to figure out by oneself. :)

That's for the reminder of me not being completely healed. I went  back to work two week after surgery. I'm the kind of person who is always doing something. I did take a easy at work and still am. I do not lift anything heaver then a gallon milk as the dr instucted. It's just at times, I am very moody and very cranky to be around or in general. I guess they are mood swing . Hehehe
I don't really know. I only feel that way when my stomach is in alot of pain . I mentioned to the surgan I have extremly bad pains through out the day. I asked him for pain medication. His response way go to the obgyn. Which stinks, because my appointment  is two months away. I just keep busy or sleep or try and ease my sudden pains that occur at random.

I honestly  only know it was liguid filled, non cancerous, and was   removed. I was learning quickly during my one week hospital stay what a cyst .I had never even heart the word prior to that day.  I had never knew about it until it was this bad. The Doctor at the hospital sent it to the lab for testing. I have the full report from the lab, but can only understand part of it. It in medical terms what  everything looked like , the exact procedure, sizes, color, and more. The obgy is giving me hope towards a health pregancy. I do not know what   endometriosis is. I only seen the general surgan for my after surgery visit. He said no need to go back to him. I just have so many questions and would like to some how find the anwers. My obgn did mention being on birth control to controll my hormones , so the cyst won't come back as quick.

I reasearched it on this website which is very intresting. I'm going to ask my obgn about this when I see him next. My concern right now is  before surgery , I never has cramps. Now, during my mentral cycle it is unbearable to walk or do any activites do to the intense pain in my abdoman area. Do you ever experiance this problem? Sorry for the type error it is late.

I had an ovary and softball sized cyst removed August of 06.  I never had any cramps before the surgery and now I have horrendous cramps.  You're only 1 month post surgery, you're not fully healed inside and will feel things much more.

Due to a large cyst, I had my right ovary and tube removed. A major concern of mine was the ability to have children later.  My doctor and others say it is possible to have children with only one ovary.  They say the remaining ovary will pick up 100% when the other one is removed.  My problem was endometriosis, so in an effort to preserve my fertility the doctor put me on birth control.  Did they say anymore about your cyst?  Did it stem from endometriosis?
