Quick question re; US this AM....

Good Morning!

I'm having my vaginal ultrasound this am...the weekend went by VERY slowly as you can imagine.

Anyway, they told me to drink 24 ounces of water, 1/2 hour before, and not to urinate.
What happens if my bladder is not full enough, and what it I really have to go? How long is it?

Also, do you think the tech would give me any indication if they found any cancer?

Of course I'm a bit worried, and I just don't have any idea how long until they get a report out?

Thanks for letting me ramble...it's just the nerves...

Good luck everyone else today...I know thre are others having procedures....You'll be in my prayers!!!

Thanks for all your input...Just got back, and they did not find anything, no cysts, no cancer.

The tech knew I was a Nurse Practitioner, so he showed me everything, and explained everything to me.

He did see some follicles on each ovary, which is normal.

Thank you everyone for all your support.
I honestly could not have gotten through all these tests, etc...had it not been for you guys.

THanks again.

The tech will most likely not tell you anything.  And really, you don't want them to as you want to get good info.  I went once and my bladder wasn't full enough and they just made me drink more and wait another half hour.  It was a pain.

Good luck.

That is great news! I am going in on Feb. 2nd to get a f/u US. I will request a TVUS. I personally believe they are more accurate.
I've had several US in the past in which only small cysts were found. Last month I went to dr in extreme pain(tech couldn't even run the wand over my abs) they did the TVUS & found 1 cyst on LO that had ruptured & a 5cm cyst on RO.
Keep in touch!

Thanks again for getting back so quickly!

I normally drink 2 bottle of water and that is plenty fill my bladder.  The tech cannot tell you cancer, but may give you some indication on abnormality or may tell you if your issues have gotten better/worse.  Some tell you nothing. Whether its because I am in the field or just because we have some friendly techs around where I live, I always have some indication before I leave about what is going on.  As far as being able to wait, it will be uncomfortable(at least for me) if you have anything of size lying in your pelvis.  The report will more than likely be typed by the afternoon and you can go to medical records and request a copy to take to your doctor yourself.  As long as you tell them it you are going to see a doctor(which is not a lie), they cannot charge for the report and they have to give it to you.  Good luck and I will be looking for your post later today.!!!
