small lumps in groin area

I have noticed small pea sized lumps at the top of my inner thigh close to the groin. Sometimes they occur on both sides and sometimes on just one side. They come and go repeatedly for over a year. They can get sore and painful. I am in good health and haven't been ill in a long time thankfully.

I am just wondering what it could be. I have read up on this as I have a science backgroujnd but I don't think it is a hernia.
Thank you

Thanks for takin the time to reply guys!..

Ive not had any infections and the lumps are just in that area and so none of the other nodal areas seem to be affected. I am gonna go and get them checked out just thought I would do sum research myself also.

However, I can't find anything that matches as i don't have any other symptoms!

Thanks though x

Hey there, Aleeshe.  I would suggest you get those nodes checked out.  As Irene said, inflamation of lymph nodes indicates and infection of some sort.  You would be wise to find out why these nodes "come and go".  I would think this indicates something chronic and needs to be addressed.  It could be anything.... not necessarily something serious.
Don't let fear keep you from finding out what is going on.  Just find out what is going on and fix it.
Take care kid, and please do let us know what you find out !
Peace.

They could also be inflamed lymph nodes. We have thousands of them in our body and they swell when there's some infection. Ever have strep throat and have the nodes in your neck swell and become tender? I had a friend with cat scratch fever and one of his nodes in his arm pit was swollen to the size of a golf ball.

Perhaps you have occasional infection or irritation that causes them to swell and do their job fighting off the problem.
